it depends on the breed but usually you can tell by color, the easiest finch to tell is the zebra males have orange spot on sides of head but others with no color difference you will probably have to dna sex but i think all finches have some way to tell without going that way spice finch is hard to tell male song is very soft only the male sings in societys

Some finches are comparatively easy to sex, though it really does depend on what finches you have in mind.

As others have already stated, colour is usually one of the easiest ways to differentiate between cocks and hens, though this is sometimes unreliable. Cocks tend to have brighter, more varied colour compared to hens, in general, though, in some species, even the trained eye will have difficulty.

The colors indicate the sex. Go google the male and females and look at the differences.

Normally you can tell by the colours, but you can take them to a vet will take a feather from them a send it away for DNA testing and sexing. Or they can put a probe up their bottom area to find out. It all depends on the vets experience on birds. All i know it is very expensive. The cheaper option is to wait and watch to see who lays the egg.
