If you want a Parakeet to talk, you must get a male, four months of age or under.(Females do not talk as well as males)Do not place a mirror in his cage,he will talk to his reflection and pay no attention to you. Teaching a bird to talk is best done on a one to one basis. Place your birds cage on a table, you sitting on a chair in front of him.( Birds respond more to females, due to the higher pitch of voice.) Make sure there are no other distractions in the room. Say your chosen word, over again clearly and precisely. Birds find it easier to say words ending in eeeeeee! Pepeeeeee,or Pippeeeee! So try a word similar to this. You need to be very patient. Do this as often as you can, throughout the day,for about 10 minutes at a time, making sure you have your birds attention. Some birds learn quicker than others. In about 3 weeks, your bird should start to make noises in the back of his throat, which you will recognise as a word, but not quite right. Keep up your training, and a few day's later, your bird will say the word!!! I have many Parakeets, and taught all mine in this manner. It takes TIME AND PATIENCE!! Always talk to your bird clearly and precisely, never shouting.Once he say's one word, try something new,but do remind him of the first word occasionally! Soon your bird will be chattering away, and will say many things you did NOT teach him!! Good luck.If you need further help, just leave me a message, and I will get back to you! Hope it all goes well!

We had a parakeet who talked when I was a kid. As I recall, my high voice at the age of about 10 was the perfect pitch for the bird, and I was the one who trained it to talk. I tried whistling and talking at the same time... talking in a whistle. High pitched talking works best. Repeat the same word over & over in that tone until he gets that one... then move on to another. Good luck.

you can buy a really cheap CD or cassette and play it on repeat and it just keeps saying a word for a few times i bought one for like $5 and it really works, i also taught him some bad words that i shouldn't have taught him; but i did so i had to get rid of him also he was annoying; you can by the CD at any bird shop or like pets mart or sumthing like that.

pick a time during the day when it's quiet, and just keep repeating certain phrases to her. Don't get ambitious at first, just stick to a few simple phrases and go from there.
