I have 6 parakeets, and I'm nice to them protecting them from harm but if I stick my hand in the cage to give them a budgie treat they dash around, frantic and afraid. Or if I get near them they'll be frantic. I don't harm them or hurt them. I've had them for a while too.

there is a nest in my back yard, and I peeked to look at them and they look like they're dehydrated with their mouths open, is it because they are just hungry? and they look like they're breathing hard. Is there anything I should do to help?

I've got two Killdeer who have a nest outside my home in the front yard. For the first two weeks nothing has even come close to the nest that had 4 eggs. I placed a bird bath in the yard ad they take advantage f that. I even placed seed nearby and it was days before they would try that, but they did and they liked it. Even during a major thunderstorm, the male never once gt off the nest and endured. I was so amazed and fell head over heels in love with them. Three nights ago, two cats kept coming into the yard and al the way up to the nest. I chased them away several times. Then two night ago, I guess they came and stole two of the four eggs. Now last night they got one more. The Killdeer are frantic and Im so heart sick. I can't let it end this way. What can I do to help save the one remaining egg? Please!

I have started raising quail and have run out of room for the eggs in the incubator so I put some quial eggs with a hen that is sitting on her own eggs so far she seems to be taking care of the eggs.Do you think when the quail eggs hatch she'd notice any difference between her own and the quail babies? And after they hatch would it be safe to put them back in with the other quail when they got bigger or would they think they were chickens and would the other quail except them?

I accidentaly broke her leg or a bone somewhere near her leg because she bit me and was holding on tightly with her beak, so I had to squeeze her and while doing that I just heard a pop. How can I treat her on my own because I cannot take her to the vet?

Just created this managerie last weekend. The two ducks and four of the hens go in at night and nest well. The four young hens and the hen with chicks all want to nest in trees. Will tightening up their pen space, clipping their wings and forcing them inside eventually make it work?

I was out side yesterday and a tiny little Sparrow came hopping into my garage. He's smaller than an egg. I looked for his nest and couldn't find it. I ask my girlfriend and she said there was nothing I could do. I left him outside; hiding under a flower pot. This morning I got up and he had made it through the night. I mixed up some sugar water and have been feeding it to him through the day. He's alive. He can't fly. His parents can't lift him back to the nest. And I don't think he can live on sugar water alone. Any ideas on what to feed a tiny little baby bird?

Am hoping to hand rear two cockatiel chicks. Planning to get them from a breeder at approx 3 weeks. Am told at that age they shouldnt need extra heat and should be fed approx 4 times daily. Have contact with someone with experience but would appreciate any advice. Also, have indoor aviary with budgies - wondering how they will react and how to introduce . (Have had friends cockatiel to stay - caged - without any problem). Finally, also have 2 cats - obviously kept out of aviary but if cockatiels were in a cage at times would they hiss at cats and not be frightened in same way as budgies are?
