When I had four birds, a dove, a canary, and two parakeets, they used to get concerned about me if I was reading or writing for too long. They would chirp at me and finally the parakeets would scold me until I looked up. I think they thought I was suffering from some kind of neurosis and were worried. I now have a single talking parakeet who loves to watch television including reading shows like 'Between the Lions', 'Reading Rainbow', and 'Sesame Street'. When his favorite shows come on, he sings along using some of the words. He isn't bothered by my reading and if I'm not giving him enough attention he is satisfied by my reading out loud. I think my other birds just didn't know what I was doing, and this one does.

Of course.

When I read a book my birds walk or hop over to me, and see what I'm doing and look around.

HAHA - This really cracked me up cuz I was wondering the same thing when my dog sees me watching TV! "What IS she doing? Sitting there staring when we could be out playing!!"
