Just created this managerie last weekend. The two ducks and four of the hens go in at night and nest well. The four young hens and the hen with chicks all want to nest in trees. Will tightening up their pen space, clipping their wings and forcing them inside eventually make it work?

Any reason in particular you need your chickens in the coop? Mine all sleep in a tree. They love it. Anyways, if you want them to sleep in the coop this is what you do.
At night, when they are in their beds, get them out of the trees and put them in the coop. When they wake up in the morning, they will all be in there. There shouldnt be any problems with them fighting. You may need to do this more than once.

Just round them up and in they go.They will get it sorted out.
When they have been allowed free run all the time it makes it hard for them to understand going into the coop at night but just keep trying and they will eventually get the idea.
The chicks will learn quickly just always put them in at night.
Mine go right in at dusk as they get more food in the coop in the evening. To entice yours in try feeding something they like maybe bread or something as a treat in the coop at bed time.

Well, I've always found that the best way to get ducks and chickens to be at their best, you should marinate them over night and cook them in a rotisserie with lots of seasoning.

Just kidding....

They're just like kids, you have to put them all together and make them get along. They'll eventually get used to each other.

When you move chickens you should lock them in the coop for 2-4 days. This way they will learn where there new home is. Chickens are stupid and may not know the new coop is home...

We used to feed only at night to get them all to go in. Somehow managed to get all 30 in every night with no problems.

Is their pen large enough for the number you have?

maybe not

but the trick we always used to get our mix-n-match chicks to roost was wooden eggs

you can find them in the craft store

put out one crate full of hay per hen & put a wooden egg in each of them, they claim one for themselves and sit on them

It will take a few days, but the best way is to get them all into your tummy.
