If you want to pull animals out of shelters and such..It also benefits you greatly because you can get a 401(c)3 non-profit tax status and big companies are more willing to donate supplies/money..because its a tax write off for them..You are able to get free animal food from most companies.(We get Pedigree at the shelter I work at) People tend to trust you more BUT the animals MUST be utd on all Shots HW-(or to the new owners and verified in writting to cover you)Spayed/neutered(No execptions this is what Rescue is all about! Rabies shots are a Must and only a Vet can give those....Its very expenxive and you are getting pets that have Issues..Thats why they were dumped in the first place..You dont come out ahead you lose money on every dog! Good Luck Though..Its a great feeling to get an animal into a great home when he was on Death row a few months earlier!

My advice is just to be honest with people you are looking to adopt animals out to. If you are not licensed, don't pretend to be. There is a lady in WI in a lot of hot water right now for pretending to be a rescue. But I am sure you are doing this for the right reasons, and hopefully not for a fat wallet!
If your heart is in the right place and you are honest with people, you will be a success.

That depends on the laws in your area, here in NY you dont need one unless you want state funding. I dont know the laws in your area so I cant say what legalities would concern you starting your rescue.
