I've had bad experience with fleas with my last dog back in 1992. I know many things have changed and medicine got much better in treating and preventing flea problems on dogs. This Friday is the day for our families new addition (8 weeks old golden retriever is coming). In your experience, which flea/tick preventive product is the best for Golden Retriver? All my neighbers have a dog or dogs but they told me that their dog(s) do not have much of problem, however, I do see many cats (do not know if they are stray cats or not) in the area.

All comments are welcome and thank you in advance for your answers.

Me mom says that cats have a disease in their fur that causes something in the blood of females to not be able to have children.
I just got a kitty. he's a longhair. and she is using this excuse to want to leave him in a CAGE outside even though he's a HOUSE CAT. is it true that they have a disease?

My puppy Daisy is getting spayed in 2 weeks. I am SO scared something will go wrong during the operation. A local vaccination organization recommends me this place: People For animals in Hillside,NJ. Is it a good place? I can't really switch now, and I need some questions to ask the vet when I go for the consultation. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jamie!
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! I only choose the specific and accurate people as the best answer, so if you scribble something, you aren't the BEST answer. Please be specific, so you'll get picked! I am very generous, but only to the people that try to get an answer!!

Minature schnauzer having consistent problems with her bottom. We have checked her anal glands and they are checked and squeezed, she does not scoot. No fleas or worms either. She gets up in a panic and runs away from her butt. Or she sits suddenly like she is hoping that will help. She looks behind her all the time. Something is making her very uncomfortable and the vet does not know what it is. We took her off all dairy we took her off wheat, we make her home made meatloaf. We have tried everything. If you know anything that can help please let us know.

Before you all say stuff like its illegal in usa, or they cannot be tamed or anything on the subject. i live in Nova scotia, Canada and am wondering where the hell i could possibly get a pet fox, If its bred in captivity then i might not have so many problems with it as everybody claims.

There is this horse where I ride and she will not let me catch her. When I get close, she runs and turns her back towards me, like she is going to buck me. I have tried treats, but I can't seem to get the halter on when I am giving them to her. Thanks!

I am thinking about getting one of my pugs certified so that he can do therapy work at our local children's hospital.
Has anyone done this? Can you give me any advice? He's only 6 months right now. I've spoken to two different trainers who say he can start training any time, but I feel he is still too young. Should I wait a while? I did his early basic training myself - sit, down, off, stay, roll over, shake, speak, 'get in your crate', leave it, etc etc. He is mostly very well behaved, but still has that hyperactive puppy-ness.
Suggestions?

My nephew found a kitten abandoned and it is now about 8 wks old. They were unable to keep the kitten so now I have it... of course, lol. My question is that the cat doesn't seem to be able to see me clearly from about 6ft+ away. It can clearly see movement, but acts leary until you are close enough or call it. I'm wondering if this is the reason it was separated from its mother... Any opinions? Thanks!

He's a 2 y.o. male rescue (pug) who was treated for fleas whenI first got him a month ago. He was rubbing his bum on the floor all the time, so I took him to the vet, who expressed his anal sacs. He has no fur loss or red, patchy areas areas, but he still seems miserable with his scratching. He sometimes also licks his paws and rubs his eyes with it, which makes me wonder if it's allergies. Any ideas of what this could be?

I can't stand my boyfriend's cat, and I've tried giving her many chances. I've bought her toys and have tried playing with her. She growls and hisses at me, scratches my dog and me, claws curtains, and sucks up to my boyfriend. She's peed on me, too. My boyfriend doesn't seem to think she's bad because she still likes him. She does this LOUD meow/howl thing when she wants attention, and he just rewards it. This cat is such a brat, and she acts all innocent and loving to my boyfriend. It's driving me nuts! What can I do?

One day when I was walking home from school... I'm 14 by the way... anyways... I was 2 blocks away from my house. There was a big dog around a couple of boys... I guess one of them is the owner... and then I tried not to look so scared when I saw the dog.... then it looked at me... and suddenly started to chase me for no reason. I was running so fast, started screaming... it was like a horror movie lol. Then I fell and scraped my knee and elbow badly. It happened on a tuesday so I stayed home until monday cause I was really hurt.

Now I'm so scared to even walk that way back home or to school.... I'm already scared of dogs and I think because of that day, it's gotten worse... while I was walking home from school on monday... I was terrified... everytime I hear a dog bark I would get scared and start looking around... getting ready to run... And when I was a cat running "didn't notice it at first" I was about to run from it and I'm not even scared of cats.

there's a big tom cat that looks after my cat who's a spayed female. she kinda gets picked on by all the other cats because she's the newest to the territory, and this tom cat defends her, he's been in 3 fights so far for her (awww). anyway, as reward for his heroic antics, i've kind of adopted him so i see him every night for feeding except for his tomming days. after his most recent tomming session he's come back very grouchy, he won't come near me, flinches when i go toward him and just generally seems like he was the first time i caught him pinching her food. very cautious and seems somewhat scared of me. i never ever so much as acted suprised to see him even from day one, so why all of a sudden is he acting like i'm a complete stranger? i can't see any injuries on him, so anyone have any ideas?

We were told that Cod Liver Oil helps in this matter, and contains Vitamin D, which has helped in the past couple of days. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this in a pup. Our 13 week old beagle will run, jump and play, but after a few minutes, he'll have to sit down, cause his front paws get weak, and try to buckle under or turn in, so to speak. The Cod Liver Oil is making things much better, and he's returned to "normal" health and is a VERY normal playful pup... just never experienced this before. Any insight? If so, is this more prominent in a certain breed of dog? Thanks for your help and advice!!

I answered a question the other day about the new Pedigree commercial, no one likes that they brag about being good food when really it is not. Why is yahoo supporting a dog food brand that has no meat in it? Dog chow has corn, wheat, corn gluten, wheat fluten, bha, bht, byproduct and bone meal.... its allergy heaven. Why can't yahoo answers support a brand because of its AAA rating? Not a brand that pays them. After all, "pets" is here to make a dogs life better, right?

I just moved in with 2 girls. I already had a dog when I moved in. A couple wks after moving in I fell in love with a dog my friend was giving away. So I BOUGHT it from my friend for $50, & she gave me the shot record. I didn't tell my roommates I was bringing her home, & when I got there I told them that I found the dog, 2 see if they would let me keep it. They seemed unsure about it, so I told them I was going 2 keep it for a few days 2 see if I could find its owner, or find it a home, & if I couldnt then I would take her to the pound. About a week later, when I was at work, my roomie brought her friend in my room, & let her friend take the dog home to show her Dad to see if he would let her friend keep it. Its been 1 1/2 wks, & I havent gotten the dog back. I've been asking my roomie when she's coming back, she says she can't get a hold of ger. I got a hold of the girl, & she refuses to give the dog back. Can the police help me if I call them & tell them I bought it & show shot recs
