My entire family is (luckily) very well most of the time. We each only get sick about once a year and it's usually sinus-related. I do not take my children to yearly check-ups because it's just not necessary. I don't want to unnecessarily expose them to something that may be floating around the waiting room.
They are both growing, healthy, happy children. Neither one of them are obese. They get normal amounts of exercise (and then some) and they both eat a very well-balanced diet, drinking tons of water.
Before anyone has a cow, both of my children have always had all of their immunizations on time as scheduled - always will.
My dog goes to the vet once a month to get her claws clipped. Other than that, she only goes once a year to get her normal shots updated. She's a short-haired dog, so we bathe her on a normal basis at home - about every 2-3 weeks. She's strictly indoors anyway, so she doesn't get all that dirty!
As for my husband ...my husband is lucky! He's NEVER sick. I am only sick about once or twice a year. Nothing major. Just sinus!
Thorough enough?
Kids don't have to go to the doctor for yearly vaccinations...they are not animals. They get immunized by certain ages, but they are usually finished with the majority of them by the middle of elementary school. The only way they "have to have" physicals for school is if they play athletics.
We stopped taking our children for yearly check-ups when they were each in the 3rd grade. Now, they will only go if it is necessary - or if we feel a genuine need to have something checked out...diabetes, weight gain (excessive or not enough) that type thing.

For my rats/hamsters, I generally do it in the event that they're ill, or if there is something i'm no longer probable involved by, yet inquisitive approximately, and could prefer to ask a vet. as an occasion, certainly one of my rats has an umbellical hernia. that's not existence threatening, rather does not even choose surgical treatment. yet I wasn't optimistic what it became into at first, and mutually as my rat acted fantastic, took him to the vet. i became into making plans on bugging the vet approximately how the neuter operation works in rats (understand the fundamentals, wanted to nicely known approximately their workplace journey, anesthesia, etc.) and that i could plenty fairly discuss with the vet in guy or woman on those issues then over the telephone. besides, for me, I pester my vet plenty, in spite of the shown fact that it is not probable a annual or bi-annual. Frankly, a approach or the different I doubt i could get previous 6 months without traveling the vet, yet often in basic terms by way of fact i'm a worrywart.

I don't have any kids yet, but when I do, they will be going to the doctor for regular check-ups. Funny, can't say the same for myself (except that annual exam for females!). I do have a dog, and he does go in for an annual exam each year.

I only go when I have to, and that goes for the pet too. Yearly exams only when free.

well..I don't have kids, however I imagine they would have to go to the dr yearly for vaccinations and physicals that are required by law to attend public schools...I also imagine they would have my low immune system and would have to go to the dr nearly every flu/cold season
I myself don't usually feel like wasting money on a dr when I'm sick...
last year I was ill for about 8 months, I really thought I was going to die
I was in and out of the dr's office every week
getting tested for UTIs, pregnancy, cancer, appendicitis, ulcers, blood clots, heart disease, kidney failure, diabetes...
my list of symptoms was long so they had a broad range of things to test me for
I went through 4 dr's and one specialist in 8 months with none of them knowing what to do with me and each one eager to pass me off onto the next
finally I gave up and resolved myself to dieing young
one night I had a seizure, was throwing up blood, passed out, and when I woke up my boyfriend demanded we go to the ER
I told him I was tired of dealing with dr's who couldn't figure out what was wrong with me; that if I went to the ER I'd never get any sleep and I had work early the next morning
he took me to the ER anyway...well the dr I saw in the ER was baffled...they had taken ultra sounds, CAT scans and MRI's on every part of my body but they had never done an x-ray
so he ran an x-ray of my abdomen, it turns out I had chronic constipation and the chronic constipation in turn caused me to have UTIs, paralysising back pain, nausea, and every other unexplainable symptom on my list!!
that's why I prefer to not go to the dr, they had told me I was dieing when in truth I just need to go on a laxative regiment and increase my fiber intake
as far as my pets going to the vet...my small animals such as my hamsters go to the vet once a year, unless they are sick then they go for a check-up
my larger animals like my cats and dogs go to the vet twice a year, sooner if they are ill; (my current cat is the exception, he has a health condition and must visit the vet once a month)

The animals all go twice a year; I only go when I absolutely have to (whcih is about once a year or my doctor won't renew my prescriptions.).
