I know it's horrible, but I put my cats food bowl outside for her to nibble as and when she likes (also to stop my dog pinching it!!). Recently I noticed that some fly some eggs on the meat, after my cat had already eaten some. If she had eaten some eggs, will her stomach acids kill them, or will she be invaded by live maggots inside her - gulp!!

I have always treated the house with a spray which keeps the place clear of fleas and their larvae for between 7 and 15 months.
This has worked very well for me for 10 + years.
Recently (six months or so), we had a fitted carpet in the bedroom and en suite bathroom, and a few weeks later we also had a new kitten.
I have treated the house this year but I have noticed the tell-tail signs of fleas recently. This is not a major infestation, I have only actually seen one flea.

I have always been worried about using the
little vials of front line on my cats, as soon after they were introduced, I heard of a cat dieing, the owner thought because he was grooming his pal. I really love my cats and I want to treat them but I am worried I could kill them by using something like this. They all groom each other. My youngest is five months old, the oldest well in his teens.

Is it safe? Can someone recommend something that is?
Please help!

But i once heard someone said that if your dog has black spots on her body, that means she has fleas/ticks, well I already sprayed her after her shower with this insecticide I got at the pet shop but I can't help but worry that will it work? How long does it take to work and how does it work? I'm so scared and I don't want my miniature poodle to have fleas, thanks in advance and please help.

Well technically it's not mine because it's a stray cat. when it was born it's coat was shiny and black, but a few months ago it started to constantly scratch behind it's ears, and then the hair behind it's ears starts to drop. since the past week it has became worse and now there's not much hair on it's face anymore. what do you think is the cause of this?

My eleven year old Irish Wolfhound died of cancer about two months ago. He was more like a child than a dog, and I loved him more than I can say. I know that no other dog can replace him, and I know I'll never love another dog as much as him, but I also know that I'm going to want another dog eventually. My sister claims that getting another dog so soon is insulting to his memory. How long would you wait to get another puppy? I'd be adopting a puppy, from a shelter, by the way.

How do the animals keep up the time for breakfast, lunch and dinner time?

About ten minutes ago I found him and picked him up. I was going to put him somewhere that I could see him. When I put him down he kind of fell to one side, then just lied down on the grass. I picked him up again and put him near his food and water. He didn't eat any food but he drunk heaps of water. He hasn't eaten all day.
His legs aren't strong anymore but they're always better than this. He can hardly walk :(
I'm crying right now cos i don't know how long I have left with him.

What do you think I should do about his legs?

Thanks heapss

How can i get a cat head? I think it would be cool to replace my head with a cat. Is there anyway i can do this, and perhaps put my head on the cats body? I would be the life of every party i go to.

My cat is 3 years old. His testicles did not drop till he was a year and a half. He has never sprayed, he doesn't go outside and shows no interest in other cats. My vet is pressuring me to get him fixed. I see no need. Am I wrong?

well i have owned my 2 beautiful cats that ive had since i was 2! we got them from a humane society when they were just kittens. they said that they were dropped off at a boy scouts place. my cat tillie does this thing where she kneads your lap with her claws and she only does it when shes in a good mood or sitting on yor lap. sometimes she'll just be sitting on the kitchen floor and she'll start to do that. well for my other cat roxy, she also kinda kneads but not as much and she only does it to a blanket. she also sucks on the blanket or scarf or what ever she can find like it is her mommy. could they be doing these things because they miss their mother or something else?? heh heh im a real curious persons o i ask every little thing on here! well please take ur best guess of what u think it is!

I volunteer for my local Humane Society. We have a young Pitt bull in. I think he is between 6 to 9 months old. He likes to chew on toys like any other puppy. But he keeps tearing them up. What is a good toy that would be strong enough for a pitt pup?

I have a very smart Himalayan cat who always wants to go out side. Some times he groans and other times he just wines. What should I do, talk to him or just ignore it? Thanks!

I am a highly educated "backyard breeder" transitioning to becoming a professional breeder. I do not care for ramblings about why I shouldn't breed, etc. Yes I have a vet. I do not think it appropriate to page her on the weekend to ask her why my dog is panting. Yes I have done research. Yes I have all the appropriate supplies and a good environment for mom and puppies.
By the way, she doesn't have a fever though her belly feels warm from the milk coming in. Her vulva is not puffy and has no discharge besides a little bloody discharge after she pees. She has been drinking A LOT of water and eating A LOT of food. Yes, I have given her a little bit of calcium, in the form of cheese to help her recuperate from the birthing. And YES I am feeding her premium puppy food that my veterinarian recommended.
I still need to figure out why she is panting so much although I have taken her outside to the very cool back yard several times and she still hasn't stopped panting. Thanks!

I work at an animal shelter that is run on donations, and there are lots of other things besides food that are often needed.

Bleach
Hydrogen Peroxide
Rubbing Alcohol
Cat litter (clay is usually best)
Toilet paper
Paper towels
Envelopes
Dish detergent

Also, some shelters take aluminum cans. They then recycle them for the money. which most shelters need. Especially if they are like the ones I work at, which runs off of nothing but donations. Thanks for taking the time to donate to a shelter. Those of us working there really appriciate all of your donations and support.

Last month, a mother cat came to my house ( she was abandoned by a family who moved ) with 5 kittens living underneath my steps. We decided to take them in- gave them a bed, food, water, litterbox, toys, and we've found homes for all of them. I recently treated all the kittens for fleas (and the mother). All of them seem healthy, playful, they eat hard/soft food and drink water. However, today i was petting one of the kittens stomachs and felt the smallest lump- it was not hard, but squishy and it caused him no pain. He is supposed to go to his new home on Sunday. I am wondering:

a) possibilities of what this lump is & does it need IMMEDIATE attention
b) should i leave the lump alone, give it to it's new owner, and when they bring it to the vet for its shots the veterinarian will take a look at it and determine the problem.

if you need any additional details, just ask! thanks in advance.
