well i have owned my 2 beautiful cats that ive had since i was 2! we got them from a humane society when they were just kittens. they said that they were dropped off at a boy scouts place. my cat tillie does this thing where she kneads your lap with her claws and she only does it when shes in a good mood or sitting on yor lap. sometimes she'll just be sitting on the kitchen floor and she'll start to do that. well for my other cat roxy, she also kinda kneads but not as much and she only does it to a blanket. she also sucks on the blanket or scarf or what ever she can find like it is her mommy. could they be doing these things because they miss their mother or something else?? heh heh im a real curious persons o i ask every little thing on here! well please take ur best guess of what u think it is!

When cats suck things like blankets, or your clothes, then it means that they were taken from their mother too early. I have 2 twins as well, both now 1 year old that were dumped outside my office at around 3 weeks old. Way too early!! Inzo, the boy, doesn't do it but Linux, the girl sucks on my clothes sometimes. Basically she thinks I'm her mum...

They both knead, this is quite normal, lots of cats do this, they wouldn have done to their mothers as kittens to stimulate the supply of milk. I had one cat who would quite happily sit and knead, her record was 23 minutes without stopping lol!!

Cats have scent glands in their paws, and when they knead them, they are releasing their scent. This is a method of marking their territory. You now belong to them.

Large cats in the wild will scratch trees in this manner to release the scent pheromones to inform other cats of a territory boundary. This action can also be seen when a domesticated cat scratches a couch or scratching post.

Its possible that they could have been prematurely weened from their mother and remember the times of nursing. It could also be a source of security for them - especially if they are resting on you and consider you to be "mother". It is a bit hard to tell.
