Pets - 22 October 2007

....may get angry with me for feeding these mouthless creatures with human food .I love animals and usually my pets are strayed or abandoned ones.The last addition is a kitten from the Veg.Market.
I'm from Sri Lanka (which is a war torn country with ssoaring C.O.L.,and we live in Ma's pension.

I'm forced to write all these ,because some get angry when I ask about feeding pets with human food.

I'm going to be getting an aussi water dragon soon. Right now I'm looking at putting in the pool/fountain for the wooo effect, filter the pool, keep water moving, and to raise humidity levels. I don't want to take up too much space with a waterfall but I'd like to have it up higher against the wall and flow into the pool. I saw at the petstore they had one in a fish aquarium that was huge and looked custom how does someone arange pumps and filters to make their own waterfall? I already know how to make the fake rock walls. I've looked at all these other waterfalls like exo terra but I'm just not impressed they all take up too much room and the water "falls" like 5 inches from the top while taking up like 12 inches of the lizard pool. Last resort I'd like to know how to just run some pumps to some filters to keep the water flowing and filtered.

Hi! iam making a frog vivarium with a false bottom so i can make a built in pond. Im planning on having live plants in there but i didnt know what happens to the water which you give to the plant does it sinks through and how to clean or get rid of it. thanks!!!

i am about to start a salt water fish tank and i do not know if a 10g tank is big enough to start off with if not i am willing to go buy a bigger one after xmas and start it then but i would like to start it in my 10g first to learn. i also wanted to know if you need a diffrent kind of filter then the kind i use in my fresh water tank?

my hampster seems fine other then sleeping alot and white urine.she urinated on my daughters navy blue shirt and it looked white.my daughters boy hampster was trying to mate with her a couple weeks ago,she was bleeding from her female area when my daughter came and got me because it scared her.

I just got a new kitty 3 days ago and she has fleas. We took her to the vet today and they put lotion on her back to get rid of them. She has only been in my room, so we vacummed the floor, changed my bed sheets, and lightly vaccumed her little kitty bed. After that we gave her a small bath. (To get rid of the poop the fleas leave, and to get rid of the dead fleas)

Should the fleas be gone now? I have seen a few on her, but my mom says their just dead ones....I dont know though. And the kittens sleeping in my bed tonight so....ya. What do you think?

I love my budgie BlueyThe2nd but sometimes like right now I wish he'd lose his voice for a couple of days lol.
For an old budgie he's still pretty lively and healthy and grew some feathers back after he lost some some months ago this year.

Ok tonight while taking pictures of my neice and dog, I've noticed round bubble like things in most of the pictures, tell me if you think this is odd for a picture to turn out..

Our sweet OSH tabby picked up ringworm from the groomer back in July and it has since grown into a complete NIGHTMARE!

We took him to the vet after spotting a hairless spot on his neck. The culture came back as the Trichophyton species of ringworm. We treated topically with Tresoderm and systematically with Ketaconazole. After a month the systems worsened. The ringworm spread to his ears and to the other side of his neck. On top of that, both my wife and I contracted ringworm and a friend who came to visit got it as well! 100% Tea tree oil worked on myself so we tried that on our cat as well (we e-collared him so as not to ingest the tea tree). That didn't work.

After much research, he's now on Itraconazole and once to twice weekly LymDyp baths. We've now isolated him to a hallway which we have been cleaning with 10% bleach solution. It's been 4 weeks since we started this treatament and he is STILL getting new spots! His baby fur is now thin and coarse and he's just so sad. HELP!!

This is a long story cut short. My boss's five pound chihuahua/dachshund cross got it's jaw fractured by their other dog. It's a closed fracture towards the back of the mouth. The vet said stabilize it with a soft muzzle until 7 am. The question is: How frequently do I need to be feeding him? He can't chew so I have to mush his food and I'm not sure how often I should offer him the mush.

(this is temporary until the clinic is open. I would be rushing him to the vet NOW, however I don't have a vehicle and the nearest open one is 2 1/2 hours away.)

If I switch my cat's diet to raw food, then It would be some what healthier as I heard. But will it raise a chance of getting all kind of warms?

I got my cat as a 1 month old kitten when it just just started eating dry food (it was tiny) It never seen a vet or had any shots because it seems healthy. I heard that once you get your cat de-wormed in the vet they will never get them again.

But since my cat never been dewormed is feeding it raw fish a bad idea, will it raise a chance of different kinds of worms?

My poor puppy has fleas! =[ please help?
He's really not a puppy he is about 4 years old but i can tell he is in pain from scratching until all his hair is gone...i can see it in his eyes. We have tried keeping him outside until we get him clear of the fleas but we cant because he will whine at the door wanting inside...is there anything i can do/ buy besides that stuff you put on to make him stop scratching and the twice a month stuff??

Anything that works extremely well??Please help my little Rowdy Bear!! =/
