That's what I love about my budgies and I've had several. I know they can be loud but as soon as you lose one, there is this void in the house. I miss it so much that I get another one. Of course when they went off their rockers, they got yelled at to "SHUUUT UPP!" Their chatter brings so much life into the home. I can't do without them.
And my very first budgie was called "BLUEY" and he used to say it really loudly and clear.

Hehehehe yes. My conure and amazon often have what I call
"Singing Contests" Screeching at the top of their lungs back adn forth. Sometimes the lovebird joins in. Luckily it only lasts a few minutes and only happens once or twice(In a whole 24 hours..I'm grateful)
But you know I think my house would seem TOO quiet if my birds weren't there. Yea it can be loud and annoying when you have a head ache but then they give you that grin and it's not like you can stay angry. :) I know when I'm sick I wish they wold quiet down but they always do eventually. :)

Lol, yes, my cockatiels seem to be having endurance screaming competitions some mornings, it drives me insane! And cockatiels are considered low noise parrots too.
And in the house I have a high noise parrot, a lorikeet, you can imagine how noisy things get sometimes.
But it's what I agreed to when I fell in love with birdkeeping. :P It doesn't annoy me nearly as much as it annoys the family. I just call them 'jungle noises', lol.
Birds will naturally make a lot of noise when they wake up and go to bed, but they can be trained not to scream at other times (such as scream for attention).
Never yell at a screaming bird, from its point of view you are just joining in with the screaming and reinforcing it.
Never reward a screaming bird with food or attention. And never throw things at the cage, hit the bird, or spray it with water for screaming.
Reward it whenever it is being well behaved. Every now and then when you are in a different room, call out to the bird, or call out when it calls you first. These are contact calls that reassure it and can help prevent screaming.
Reward it for trying to get your attention in ways that doesn't involve screaming, such as talking or doing a trick.

I have a female cockatiel who is quite noisy. I have only had her for a month and have noticed that she is the loudest when music is playing or there are people talking around her. It do think it is amazing they don't loose the ability to sing after so long, but I think the noise is made just like whisteling. I don't think it is a muscle like humans have.

I know! and sometimes I wish they would at 7:00 in the morning! My two keets really get going sometimes, especially when they hear the birds outside, or I don't cover their cage all the way.
