There have been a few questions recently about how much should be paid for a dog. I've noticed that the prices some people think are normal, other people think are outrageous.

So I ask:

1. Where did you get your dog? (breeder? petstore? shelter? etc.)

2. What breed is your dog?

3. For what purpose did you get the dog? (pet? show? agility? obedience? hunting? working? etc.)

4. How much did you pay for the dog?

5. Do you think it was a fair price?

Feel free to additional details if you wish.

Please no "thumbs down" if you don't agree with where someone got their dog, some people prefer shelters, some people prefer breeders. This question isn't about your preference on where to get a dog at.

(A similar question was done on Dogster a while back, there were people who had both shelter or free dogs along with several-thousand dollar show dogs. So no one should look down on others just because they paid or didn't pay a certain amount for their dogs.)

its not fair & it dont make sense why they would get pets if theyre not gunna treat them properly!!!if they dont like animals,they shouldnt have them!!!

& why do some ppl not believe in animal rights??i think its in China or something i heard on the news that they said animals rights wernt much of an issue,all they cared about was gathering an audience 2 watch carnivores eat their food--thats the ONLY reason the "zoo" was there,according 2 the news.

i think ppl who dont believe that animals are "humans in animal suits" have a serious mental prob.that REALLY needs delt w/.(humans in animal suits is how i see them-becuz they have feelings & rights 2,they have a brain like us so they can think)just becuz most animals cant talk 2 us in our language dont mean theyre insignificant.we are also insignificant.(personally, i think animals are MORE civilized than us cuz they dont kill so much & they dont have wars that go on 4ever.they only eat whats good 4 them-what they think is, etc) .

is it normal for rats to shed..
mocha is a white rat
with some tan and some grey/black
she shed last night
all over my computer desk..

also what is good for her dry skin
i got vitamin E capsles but they were really sticky
she didnt like that too much
anything else that isnt expensive that i can try?

2 hours after I had given her some shredded roasted chixn and rice. Could she have eaten too much? I gave her just about 1/3 cup of the table food. She was OK and played for awhile after. BUT, everytime when the play got hard, she would start to cough and gag and sometimes have to up-chuck but doesn't quite get out of her mouth. Every other hour I can see/hear her coughing and gagging. Sounds serious so I am contemplating taking her to the vet soon. Any words of advice besides do not feed her table food.

We have 2 cats and we have recently discovered they came to us pretty much infested with fleas....I have dipped them, and recently found eggs and larvae in my daughters bed. I immediately stripped her bed and put everything in the washer! Her rugs went into a plastic bag until I can find how to take care of them. We were all seriouslly alarmed by this and are taking the steps to rid our home completely, but I am very concerned about the fleas infesting us...is this possible?? Thank You!!

Mine listens when someone speaks on the phone and for more than a few minutes she listens attentively. If my mom is speaking on the other line she makes distinct noises and listens attentively. I was amazed, moved and pleasantly shocked! ;)

So last night im in bed and my dogs are barking like crazy so i walk outside and theres a puppy screaming on the front porch. I've been trying to take care of her all night and well i gave her a bath and fed her but she's got fleas like crazy & sores in the ears. she is just now turning 19months old!!and i haven't thought of a name yet.well actually ive only had her 1month b/c i got her at a horse sale for a good price and she is registered.(her, her dam, and a bunch of other horses were repoed by a bank from this guy so they were going for cheap)(but all of the horses there were registered with AWSOME lines)anywho i feel so bad b/c she hasn't been named yet!!!please help!!she is sorrel with four white socks and a star and stirp.PLEASE HELP!!

We have a black lab that we rescued as a puppy, who almost died from parvo, and my wife and son nursed it back to health. It recently bit my son when he and I were wrestling. He won't bite me hard no matter what. Yesterday he tried to jump on me, and I grabbed his paw and wouldn't let go - he would not bite me, no matter how long I held on.

He also won't try to enter the house when I'm at the door, but with others, he will run in given the chance.

Am I crazy with my 'alpha male' theory ?

Would like 2 say thank u 2 every 1 who answered my question last time about what 2 feed my tort!

because my little baby has been eating fruit and veg 4 probably the whole of her life so far, is it ok 2 change her diet straight away?????
she's still eating kale and now a few dandelions, is this ok??

I am currently thinking about breeding a pair of fighters, I have a male which is starting to build bubble nests. But if I go and buy a female, when do I introduce her, and for how long do I introduce her until I take her or him out? Also, if the male has built the bubble nest then how long does it take for the eggs to be laid and for them to hatch. Thanks alot

I have adopted 2 adult cats and find they have ear mites. There is a simple and safe remedy but I cannot recall what it is.
Can anyone advise? I can go to a vet and will if necessary but a consultation and prescription will cost $100 or more which I can ill afford. Thank you for your help.

My tank is 55 gallons, I currently have a penguin 350, so the emperor 400 isn't that much of an upgrade, but at that price I figured why not? Was this a worthwhile purchase? Or should I wait until I find a good deal on a canister filter? Then again, 55 gallons isn't that big - maybe I don't need to worry about an upgrade at all. I should also mention - the filter cartridges are half price as well. The rite size "c" and "e". Any advice?

so i had a dog who got fleas and i had to get rid of her for other reason and i have a indoor cat as well. the dog before i got rid of her gave the fleas to my cat and now i am having a prob with getting rid of them. i have used a spray before for the house and even used a bath for my cat and frontline (although i think she liked it all off).. anyways. i am still having a prob with it. i have been vac like crazy i was told that is the best way i been vac the floors and even my sofas and its not working! i am going crazy.. can someone please help me out with this? i need a good flea bomb and also a way to clean my sofa and if possible a good flea bath for my cat... thanks!

I have two cats, one of them when i smoke doesnt mind, he likes to watch the smoke patterns and he isnt bothered by me having the cigarette per se.

The other one however really doesnt like the smoking, or me when i have one..he'll give me little dirty looks, wont come near me and when he does jump near me when smoking as a soon as he realises, he chunters at me..makes his dipleasurable noises and runs away from me in a mood untill the smoke is gone??

He is a whilte cat and very sensitive, pink everywhere, thin skin, the other is more robust.

why doesnt he like it...does your cat do this ?

i noticed last night that my 3 yr. old cat stood at her water bowl for almost 10 minutes steadily drinking water,she has been gagging and throwing up and when she does she throws up a mucussy substance well this morning i noticed when she was in her box it looked like she was having trouble urinating and there was a little bit of blood where she went and when she got out...what could it be and how can i possibly fix it? i have no money for a vet
