So last night im in bed and my dogs are barking like crazy so i walk outside and theres a puppy screaming on the front porch. I've been trying to take care of her all night and well i gave her a bath and fed her but she's got fleas like crazy & sores in the ears. Whats good to put on the sores? & also can i deworm her without knowing if she has worms?

Deworming will not hurt the puppy even if she doesn't have worms.

The sores may be caused by fleas and by the puppy rubbing and scratching at the lesions. They could also be caused by ear mites. Ark Naturals makes a great product with Neem oil and Tea Tree Oil for insect problems on dogs (and as a bonus, it is safe for humans too). You can put that on her and it will keep fleas away and start healing the sores too. Of course you can always use Frontline, but make sure the puppy is old enough first (I believe 8 weeks old is the minimum). Revolution will kill ear mites as well as fleas (but it is very dangerous/strong stuff, be sure to not overdose the puppy). I hope you can get the puppy to a vet for a check-up, it should have its vaccinations, and you can get advice/prescriptions for the sores.

Take this puppy to a VET. For starters, the pup needs to be checked over. Secondly, you need some advice on puppy care and flea and worm control.

You're supposed to worm dogs before they actually get worms, as prevention is better, and easier, than cure. Young pups need to be wormed very regularly. BUT do not use any flea or worm products from stores, as these can indeed be harmful. Use only what your vet gives you.

Take the pup to a vet, she obviously needs medical attention. At the very least, you need to pick up proper worming and defleaing products, but you also need to know what's causing those sores and what to put on them.

If you're talking about heartworm, you should have a blood test first. Other worms, it should be fine to deworm her. In regards to the sores on her ears, I would suggest Colloidal Silver for preventing infection and comfrey to soothe and encourage healing. Burt's Bees makes a great ointment called Doctor Burt's Res-Q Ointment which has comfrey and other herbals. I use it on all my bug bites and sores as well as my pets. Yes you can deworm her without knowing. As for ear sores, I've used bag balm with no ill effect however you need to get her checked by a vet.

If you intend on caring for this puppy, then take her to the vet. She needs shots and the sores looked at. Frontline is also availiable at the vet, so all three plus deworming are covered with one stop, at the vet. Good luck

Your puppy should be on a monthly dewormer and heart wormer.
