They still scratch and shake their heads and I found 2 brown specks in one of the ears. The last treatment was on September 20th!

I have a puppy and shes about 5 months old. She has the worst fleas. They are so bad shes starting to get sored and scabs all over her because she scratches her bites. I give her a flea bath everday and use a flea comb to comb them out but they just seem to be coming back. What is the best way to get rid of these fleas?

I have two dogs, one 10 pounds and one 25 pounds, and three cats who weigh 5, 10 and 14 pounds respectively. It's much cheaper to buy a box for the dogs and a box for the cats, rather than buy five individual vials to match each weight. Should I get the higher weight and put less on the smaller animals, or the lowest weight and put more on the bigger ones, or just shell out the $75???

I do keep 9-lives hard food on hand for them but for their morning meal it is the soft food or nothing at all for them. They meow or "screech" is more like it if I try to get them to eat something else. They will eat the hard food during the day as they run in and out but for morning and before bedtime, they want the 9-lives. I have tried other brands, no go - they will leave it in the dish and meow. Yes, my animals are spoiled - including the stray dog I took in plus my farm animals. I have one peacock that only eats in a certain place and when I go the farm to feed, he goes to "his" spot and will not budge until I bring the food to him. But as for the cats, I am concerned because they eat 2 cans of soft food a day - is this bad for them? The vet says feed hard food but they will not eat it unless they have their can of soft food in the mornings. I tried not feeding them soft food at all but they would not touch the hard food for about 3 days & I gave in and gave them the soft food.

My dog has bad skin allergies and seborrhea during certain times of the year. He loses a lot of his hair and gets hot spots from all the scratching. I bathe him in a medicated shampoo prescribed by the veterinarian (which I tend to think dries out his skin more), use a hot spot spray 2 or 3 times a day, and give him medicine daily. I have been keeping him in the house, but sometimes his smell is so bad that I have to spray air freshener all over the house.

My brother's dog is 1-1/2 year old. He is not neutered and he's marking his territory in their house. If he gets him neutered will he stop or maybe slow down on the territory thing?

He is not neutered cause he is used as a hunting dog and my brother is afraid if he neuters him he will lose his edge at hunting....do you know anything about that?

The couple of months i been on here, it astounds me, that some people cant afford vets fees. Are they that expensive in the States? Here in U.K. i can take my 3 cats up, have 9 shots, heart, ears eyes and weight check for the price of £120.00p. (dont know what that is in U.S. dollars.)
Here in U.K. we do have the P.D.S.A. who give free treatment for those on income support.
So it got me thinking for those who got pets , why dont some vets in the states, do saving stamps or vouchers, so if anything should happen to pets, least they know they have them to fall back on,(i know some vets can be quite stubborn in instalments.) Anything could happen re life wise, suddenly loose job ect, Lot of people cant afford pet insurance, so what do you think about a voucher or saving stamp scheme at your vets, least your vet would know that you are saving for that "Just in case" syndrome.
What are your thoughts? (of course it would have to be properly vetted, excuse pun, so you dont get conned.)

I have a 1 and a half year old kitten, and she stopped using the litter box a few months ago. I thought she may have had a urinary tract infection. I took her to the vet and she got a clean bill of health. Then I tried to put her in the litter box when she started scratching on the floor.....whenever I did that she would squirm and act frightened.
Its like shes afraid of the litter box and refuses to use it.
I moved it to a quieter area and even put a privacy tent over it, but she still gets frightened when I put her in it.
I keep the litter clean, I don't change brands so I'm not sure what it can be. HELP PLEASE!!!

I work at home doing transcription and my fish tank is in my office and my filter is really loud and the speakers on my transcription file are very quiet, and I can hardly hear them with the filter on, so I turned it off. Will my fish be okay for a couple of hours without the filter? I don't have anything to create air bubbles or anything, it's just sitting water, not moving. Will my fish be okay? It might help to mention that my fish is a small mouth bass that we got from the river. Thank you!

For my breed, a Border Collie, I need a dog that can herd those sheep and do it well (instinct). My dog needs to be well structured in order to be able to do this job in the first place (confirmation).

To find a dog with these qualities, I will only work with a reputable breeder who is ensuring this sort of quality is within the lines (shows and works the lines they breed). I need my dog to do a particular job and not just do it, but do it well. It is rare to find something suitable in rescues and shelters, tho I am supportive of this, it is not something that can suit my needs at this time.

Why do people think that those who want a dog for a specific job are dog snobs? Why do some say people are "dog snobs" for insisting their working breed comes from proven lines so that it can actually do the job it was bred to do?

I am getting a puppy from a breeder who appears to be a good breeder, but there is a statement in her sales contract that is giving me troubles. Here it is: "if at anytime the buyer can not keep his/her puppy, the puppy is not to be put into a rescue, but given back to the breeder at no charge".

I know a good breeder would never let their puupy end up in a rescue but giving the puppy back the the breeder at no charge seems kind of cheap. A lot of breeder at least buys back the dog for the price it was sold. Would you sign this?

I have a 5 month old Saint and another Saint that is a year and a half. We feed both of them at 8:30 in the morning and at 8:30 at night. The puppy has woken me up early maybe once or twice this week by gagging and maybe puking up a little whitish frothy something. Then she lays back down and sleeps untill I feed her, and has no problem with her food or the rest of the day. She did this this week and also a couple times maybe a month ago. She is on nutro natural controled growth, and our house is pretty much puppy-proofed, though the only reason we let her sleep outside of her crate now is because she is well behaved and doesnt get into anything. What could make her do this? Do I need to take her to the vet?
