My brother's dog is 1-1/2 year old. He is not neutered and he's marking his territory in their house. If he gets him neutered will he stop or maybe slow down on the territory thing?

He is not neutered cause he is used as a hunting dog and my brother is afraid if he neuters him he will lose his edge at hunting....do you know anything about that?

Dogs that are spay/neutered do NOT loose their "edge" as hunting dogs...that is nothing more then an old wives tale.
I've had many, many years of hunting dog experience. My family had them all my life and my husband has them. He bred Beagles for several years and also hunts bird dogs.
We are currently hunting a Beagle (neutered) and a German Shorthired Pointer (spayed). The beagle has been an absolute fantastic rabbit dog. The GSP is a super hunting dog as well. My husband does NAVHDA with her and also hunts her in the field.
Spay/neuter often actually makes them better hunting dogs..they keep their focus on their job..no worries about them smelling a female in heat and going off to find her (happened to two of my uncles prize Beagles a few years back..they were shot and killed by the owner of the females who they left the hunt field in search of and ended up several miles away at the home of the females..females owner caught them)
As long as the dog is kept intact he will mark his territory and wil lbecome worse..the habit will also become ingrained and be hard to break later on if he waits before neutering.

Neutering him will go a long way toward solving the marking. At a minimum, you should be more able to break him from doing it after he is neutered. Seems to me he would have more ability to concentrate on hunting if he is neutered.

Keep him outdoors in a doghouse if he is not neutered. Ask the vet whether neutering will affect his ability as a hunting dog. I doubt it.

It's normal he thinks its his to deal with, when he does it, flick him in the nose and spray where he marked with apple vinegar, it takes the smell away
