I have a wonderful year old female boxer who hates it when I leave for work every day . When I come home for lunch every day on occassion i will find items destroyed and/or chewed by her and her hundreds of toys are neatly in her box. I assume she is venting because I had to leave her at home alone, but I cant quit my job and I dont want to cage her. How can I get her to stop being destructive?

I'm getting my own apartment and I've decided to go to the animal shelter to adopt either a cat or dog so I won't be so lonely. If I'm going to get a dog I'm only going to get a small one, like a maltese or a palpion. I have a full time job and I'll be in an MCAT class so I'll be studying a lot. ANyone have any recommendations and why? I love both animals and I'll more than likely devote at least a half hour of playing with it a day.

On a whim, I decided it would be cool to breed my cats. I was originally thinking of breeding my two dogs together (rottie and a weimaraner) but decided against it, cats are easier. My cats are a tabby (2 years old, male) and some type of mix (stray, probably 10-12 years old, female). What do I need to look out for? How do I go about this? Will it cost me anything?

I have a cat and for some reason my clothes stink like coconuts and urine- even after I wash them. Does this happen to anyone else? I take the cat to get groomed monthly and he smells fine but he is stinking up my clothes and house. Any ideas?

Im looking for a name for a mouse. Somthing 'mighty' or sophisticated names like a greek god, a ruler, artists, etc.
I've considered Apollo, Aphrodite, Cleopatra, Picasso, Mozart, and Zeus.
Any other ideas? Or which of the ones i picked is your favorite.

I am soooooo mad. I asked a question about 2 days ago in regards to whether my kittens could get anything from the vet while staying there overnight after being neutered.

Come today, I saw (when I was examining his surgery site) a white boogerish looking thing that I took off and put it on a paper towel. To my suprise that thing started to move. I also took notice that my kittens are also scratching themselves more than usual, and there are little white specs on their furs. I called the vet and sure enough the lady says its probably tape worms and possibly something else. She told me I have to bring my kittens in. After I got off the phone, I lifted his tail and yet again there was a brownish liquidy discharge. I wiped it off and put it in a baggy to bring in with me. I have an appointment in 2 hours, but I still want to ask you guys:

I have used Frontline, Capstar, Advantage and flea shampoos, I've also used the Frontline Flea Spray. Nothing works. It just keeps getting worse. She is absolutely miserable and I am desperate for her some relief.

My Belgian Malinois (Mal-in-wah) has really dry skin down her back and near her tail. She keeps itching and chewing at it and I don't want her to get a "hot-spot"! I make sure I rinse all the soap out when I give her baths due to her sensitive skin. I have changed her dog food to Innova, which is supposed to be really holistic and healthy for your dog's skin and coat. I was also recommended to put an oil in her food once a day to help. So I think my next step is to change her shampoo. Does anyone have any ideas on a really good moisturizing shampoo for dogs?

Luckily enough I managed to grab him and the little thing got away unharmed. I know they are pests but all my cat does is play with them till they die, whereas if he catches a bird he will eat it. I know it's nature and you can't stop cats from doing it, but how do you deal with it?

Would a dog that's mixed be included in these laws? For example, if someone had a dog that was like 60% Old English Bulldog and had like 10% pitbull in it would this dog be included in these "vicious" dog laws?

Personally I think the law is senseless, these dogs are not any more vicious, it's alla bout how people treat and socialize their dogs. Rotweillers, Can Corsos, German Shepards, Dobermans, none of these dogs are included in these laws and I would argue a Rotweiller could cause much more harm than a pitbull because of it's size. Just wondering if these laws would apply to a dog who had a small % of pitbull in him?

I'm treating my dog's ear infection with a drying cleansing agent and antibiotics. My vet said I'd I have better success if I could clip his ear flaps up so that the ears would stay dry. He said I'd be able to find something like that on the net. Does anyone know of a snood or something that would work? I've tried taping the ears up and all kinds of hair clips without success. Has anyone seen what my vet is referring to? Thanks!

This dog group is great, I have one issue that constantly comes up, and it constantly annoys me when I see it.

Many of you say do not breed, do not breed, do not breed, yet you still only respect dogs if they are pure bred.

Many of the dogs in kennels are mutts. So if you don't want people to breed their purebreds (because sooo many other dogs need a home), where are you going to get them from?

I get the feeling that no matter how responsible the breeder, this group still looks down on breeding one's dog, even though it needs to be done to further the bloodline or breed. The logic of "don't breed" makes no sense.

However, apparently the asker has blocked me and now I don't get the chance to read the full question nor read any of the information others shared in their answers. How can I learn new things from people who have different views from me if they won't allow me to even read what they have to say, let alone what the people answering them have to say?

Anyway, I wanted to further this thought with this....

As breeders, do you routinely keep some sort of control over the puppies you sell? (show dogs) Do you track and stay involved in the show careers, breedings and offspring? (hunting & agility dogs) Do you require certain training methods or involvement in the training process?

I am asking this of professional breeders because I was absolutely astonished at the level of "control" retained by the breeder over a dog once it is sold. (after reviewing the answers in yesterdays ?) I was involved in show horses and NEVER had anyone tell me i had to do certain things once I handed them thousands of dollars and put the animal in my name, it was my business? Is this really common in the dog industry???

I rescued a stray kitten (about three months old) from my shared backyard (I live in a muti-unit dwelling) and she has an abundance of fleas. All the cat grooming products caution that a cat this young could be harmed by the chemicals contained in the shampoos, powders, etc., that you would use on an older cat, and even though I have bathed her regularly with some of these products, she still has fleas. She seems to suffer so much (she scratches and cries) and I have tried everything I can think of (brushing, baths) it does not seem to be getting better. Is there something I can use that won't hurt her? I can't bear to see her suffer any more.
