two vets give me different answers on this. the fracture is 3 1/2 weeks old. the vet said she should heal fine without surgery.

If the dog is eating agood and well balanced dog food, no supplement should be necessary.
Over supplementation can be a problem as well!!

I have had several foster cats and dogs over the years with fractures, pelvic included, and never supplemented any of them. All healed just fine.

That depends on what is fractured on the pelvis. There are parts of the pelvis that are non-support or non-weight bearing structures like the ischium or the pubis. Some SI luxations do need to be surgically repaired if there is a lot of displacement. Ilial wing fractures need repaired and some acetabular fractures may or may not need repaired depending on the size, displacement and weather a femoral head and neck osteotomy would be better for the pet.

It's not a question of calcium rather how well the osteoclasts and osteoblasts are working. These are cells that constantly remodel bone over the course of the dog's life. Fractures in puppies may take 4-6 weeks to heal, middle aged dogs 6-8 weeks and old pets maybe 8-10 weeks.
