Magley beat me to it. You have to show your G.Shep that the cat is YOUR territory, so beat it. But only pee on the cat a little and make sure the dog sees you. Within a week, he'll know who's boss.

The tried and true method is aversion: squirt him with a water bottle when caught in the act. However, dissolve a tube of Bengay in the bottle and aim your squirt at his private parts, so that he will associate the burn of of the the bengay on his peepee while peeing on the cat. This way he won't do it around the cat anymore. In fact, he won't pee if there is a cat within 50 yards of him most likely.

EDIT: I have to agree with most others here: the dog is marking his territory and he just considers the cat his *****. They are most likely copulating when you aren't around.

Neuter the dog, and when he lifts his leg, correct him. You have to also clean that cat up so that he can't smell the previous pee, if he keeps smelling pee on the cat, he'll keep marking him. You sure that another dog isn't marking the cat and your dog isn't just doing a reciprocate mark?

Has he been neutered?? It sounds like he really likes the cat and is marking his territory! You need to catch him in the act and very gently tell him no! No yelling or scaring him - it will make it worse! You may want to check out a few web sites to see what others have done in this case!! Good Luck to you, I hope he stops soon!!!

LMAO... Good Boy! thats what cats are good for..lol

Neuter him, that might slow him down...
get a squirt bottle and every time he goes near the cat squirt him with the water.. and he should get the idea to stay away from the cat.

What does the cat think of all this?

Maybe the cat stinks already and the dog's just trying to help- ever think of that?

Maybe the cat and the dog are.. well you know.. in to all that watersports type stuff...

Your dog is trying to mark his territory. Pee on the cat yourself so that the dog will know it belongs to you. He'll stop doing it.
