My puppy Daisy is getting spayed in 2 weeks. I am SO scared something will go wrong during the operation. A local vaccination organization recommends me this place: People For animals in Hillside,NJ. Is it a good place? I can't really switch now, and I need some questions to ask the vet when I go for the consultation. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jamie!
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!! I only choose the specific and accurate people as the best answer, so if you scribble something, you aren't the BEST answer. Please be specific, so you'll get picked! I am very generous, but only to the people that try to get an answer!!

I know exactly what you are going through my 7month old puppy just got spayed a few weeks ago and I was a mess at work that day. Basically what happens is when you bring her for the consult they will give her a "puppy check up" to make sure she is healthy and will be OK for surgery. They will then schedule the surgery. They will probably tell you that the night before she can't have anything to eat or drink after 8 pm. You will bring her for surgery the next day and drop her off. They may tell you to bring a favorite toy of hers or a blanket that smells like you. They usually don't keep them overnight anymore so they will do the surgery they will most likely call you and tell you when she comes out of surgery and let you know how things went, they will keep her there for a few hours after she wakes up to wait until she relieves herself. Then they will call you and have you come and get her. You will probably get some antibiotics to give her for about 7 to 10 days. And depending on the type of stitches she gets you will either have to take her back to get them taken out or they will dissolve on their own. If it is a good place they should leave you with no questions. They should tell you everything up front. Hope all goes well! ;o)

Any professional can do the surgery, and it relatively never goes wrongs. Dogs are actually very easy to heal and are easy to work on. All you have to be worried about is the questions they will ask: like the type of tool they will use to open her up (I think there is 3 different kinds) that will affect how she feels afterwards. Also, be prepared to pamper her. Have a nice place set up for her in a small room for less movement. They heal fast so it won't be for a long time. Just be there to love and care for her. The vet will let you know what to do. And don't worry about the vet. If you want to, and want a local one rather one far away, go to the local one and ask the people who have already had their pets checked, spayed, etc (the customers) how the vet was and how clean and friendly the enviorement is. Since you seem not to be able to switch, do some internet research on the place. Call them. A phone call to someone can help evaluate how their personality is and how the place sounds like it will be. If it looks too shabby for you, or suspicious, turn away.
