We were told that Cod Liver Oil helps in this matter, and contains Vitamin D, which has helped in the past couple of days. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this in a pup. Our 13 week old beagle will run, jump and play, but after a few minutes, he'll have to sit down, cause his front paws get weak, and try to buckle under or turn in, so to speak. The Cod Liver Oil is making things much better, and he's returned to "normal" health and is a VERY normal playful pup... just never experienced this before. Any insight? If so, is this more prominent in a certain breed of dog? Thanks for your help and advice!!

feed a better quality of puppy food and you should not have to supplement. Try Royal Canin Puppy or Eukanuba Puppy. In fast growing larger breeds their is often problems with joints and limbs being weak. This is a nutritional problem and parents start it. That's why it's important to feed right all the way down the line.

Its not the cod liver oil its the fact he is growing and his muscles are growing.

Be careful or you will be on here wanting to know why the dog has chronic diarrhea

I assume that you have not consulted a vet, or they would have told you what to do. Rickets, also know as Vit D deficiency is pretty rare in dogs fed todays dog foods. Even the crappy ones.
I would seek the advice of a vet, as there could be something else going on and you could be wasting time in getting it treated.
