Minature schnauzer having consistent problems with her bottom. We have checked her anal glands and they are checked and squeezed, she does not scoot. No fleas or worms either. She gets up in a panic and runs away from her butt. Or she sits suddenly like she is hoping that will help. She looks behind her all the time. Something is making her very uncomfortable and the vet does not know what it is. We took her off all dairy we took her off wheat, we make her home made meatloaf. We have tried everything. If you know anything that can help please let us know.

omg i am lmao. sorry, but my mini does the same thing. the vet said nothing is medically wrong with her, so i don't worry about it. although, she doesn't do it very often and she doesn't seem to be uncomfortable like yours. i always thought it might be just a breed trait. i wouldn't worry too much. if it makes you feel any better, get another vets opinion. good luck.

Here's an idea - go to another vet? If your current vet is flummoxed, someone who went to med school for five years, how exactly do you think a bunhc of unqualified strangers are going to be able to help? More likely they will give you a bunch of well meaning (or not) but unhelpful suggestions that have nothing whatsoever to do with your dog's condition. Go to another vet if your current one has no further suggestions.

Have you had her back x-rayed?

I had one once that would scream in agony, get up and run. It only lasted for a minute and then all was fine until the next time. She had nerve pain stemming from 2 broken disks in her back. The thought was that her mom had stepped on her and nobody knew it until the pain started at 6 months of age.
