How can I get my two very small dogs and the newly adopted kitten to get along? I'm scared the dogs might scare the kitten, but I really want one. Is there anything I can do to make things easier between the two. My dogs havent ever been around a smaller animal than them.

My parents dog chased a cat that was in their yard to the neighbors yard. The cat, broke its leg somehow in the chase. The hospital bill for the cat was $3000! Are my parents liable for the entire bill if at all? I think its utterly ridiculous that someone would spend that much money on a pet, but that may just be me. We live in Pennsylvania by the way.

in answer to my previous question about my stressed out anenomea iodine was refered to as important to crustation molting .does this affect the health of other invertabea? and i just put mr. squishy (thats the anenemea's name) into the tank about 24 hrs ago after an hour and a half slow drip adjustment period.he's not really opening very far and i assume this to be a sign of stress.he did move to the spot he's in now on his own so i assume he likes it.my lighting is marine-glo,ocean-glo,and a corallife 50-50 (3 full length florecent tubes)figure i got the bases covered there.......am i just impatient.....what is a normal settling in time frame for sebea,seabe..??? anenomea? thx

I have a 3-year old female blue heeler (Australian Cattle Dog). Her coat is medium length and coarse, and she has a softer shorter undercoat. She does not have fleas or ticks, and (almost) never scratches up near her head. But she almost constantly scratches her back (just above the tail) and belly by chewing on them - to the point she is missing patches of hair. I've used itch stick, which is supposed to help heal the dry skin, soothe the itch and make it taste bitter to prevent chewing, but she just rolls onto her back and kind of does the twist until the medicine is gone. She also sometimes scratches her back this way. She's miserable and is getting scabs on her back from so much chewing.

Is it time for a neck collar that just won't let her turn her head back to her butt? I've used a cone collar before but she's smart and strong and the cone didn't last two days.

I have three dogs. one is about 3 or 4 years older than the other two and she is getting very old. her health is declining quickly and we are ready to put her to sleep if she starts suffering.

the other two dogs look up to the oldest because she is like the pack leader. considering their entire lives have been spent looking up to my oldest dog how do you think the younger dogs will react when she is gone?

Yes, kittens and puppies are cute and cuddly, but they eventually become cats and dogs. Not only that, but there are plenty of adult cats and dogs that need good homes, and if anything, I've found that they can be just as much fun as the babies. And last but not least, I think it's absolutely sickening that some people have no qualms about discarding an animal once they grow tired of it or it becomes in any way troublesome. Animals are sentient beings with physical and psychological needs of their own, so they should be treated as such rather than as playthings.

Vader is 4 months and 3 weeks old and I need to find a good home for him but don't know how to go about selling him. I've tried petfinder.com but it sounds more like a site for adoption agencies to post up their animals they have to potential adopters. He is a pure breed with breeding rights, so I shouldn't have too much trouble selling him, should I?

Okay I have seen some crazy answers regarding heartgaurd. This is a very save medicine that can be proscribed to dogs that have heartworms. It does kill worms up to 45 days old. It does not prevent them it only kills the ones the dog already has. Also it will stun any larger worms so they can not produce the phase for the mosquitoes to pick up. It will not kill a heartworm positive dog to get heartgaurd!!!! In fact I have seen them give heartworm positive dogs daily doses to take the burden down!!! Please do your research before you medicate yourself and your dogs. Any additional comments and questions are welcome.
