PUT ME TO REST
Time to let me go my friend,
Because my life no-one can mend,
Its better to let me go this way,
Than watch me suffer night and day.
I'm happy to go, my time has come,
My quality of life is no longer fun,
Ive been so ill, so its not a bad thing,
To let me go forever resting.
Stay with me till I drift away,
Fast asleep forever I pray,
To relieve me from suffering and pain,
What more can I ask from my best friend.
Don't be sad, I'll be free from pain,
Never to be ill ever again,
I know you'll miss me being there,
But all the memories you have to share.
Thankyou for being my best friend,
And all my needs that you did tend,
Try not to be sad, try not to cry,
Now's the time to say GOODBYE

If you cannot afford to have him put down, then ask the vet if there is SOME sort of payment plan you can work out.
Other than that, the best thing to help him, if there is simply NO other alternative and you cannot get him put down, is to keep him doped up on pain meds and give him lots of hugs and stroke him as much as you can.
Really though, putting him down would be the way I'd go, if he is suffering.
I'm sorry you're going through this, both of you. I hope it is over very soon for your chow chow so he stops suffering.

I'm so sorry. My beloved golden died of cancer and I know what you are going through so very well.
We decided that the end had come for my dog when he could no longer eat and had become weak and could barely walk - he had no quality of life left. Basically where you are now. We wanted him to die with some dignity intact. Hard as it is, I'd make your goodbyes soon and not let him deteriorate any more.
Again I'm so sorry. I've been there. It was awfully hard.

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth,
its called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys.
When a beloved pet dies they go to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail are young and strong again.
Those who have been maimed are whole again.
There is only one thing missing, they are not with their special person who loved them on Earth.
So,each day they run and play until the day comes when suddenly one stops playing and looks up.
The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring!
This one runs from the group!
You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take them in your arms and embrace them.
Your face is kissed over and over and kissed again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting friend.
Now,cross over the Rainbow Bridge together, never to be separate again.............author unknown.

He will tell you when it is time. But I remember, taking my old girl out when she needed to go, spoon feeding baby food and water or broth and just reading her signals after 18 years of being together. When it was too much for her, I had to make the hard decision...but she was ready.
Very best wishes. You are in our thoughts.

Your in a very hard place you can let go and end your poor dogs suffering. That is a hard choice to make but sometimes the best for your beloved pet.

i know that it is one of the hardest things to go through. if he is not eating and not walking he is not happy. Don't let your baby suffer i think spend a nice night sleeping with him and in the morning he will tell you what he wants. You can see it in their eyes. Please dont let him live without quality of life. He is suffering and cannot verbally tell you so if you look at him and if you think he is unhappy then let him go.

to let him die with dignity and put your Chow Chow to sleep
instead of continuing letting him suffer because YOU are
thinking of yourself instead of your Chow Chow.

give him a cheeseburger, take him to the vet and have him put down while you stay beside them. Rips your heart out but for them the best
