Yes, kittens and puppies are cute and cuddly, but they eventually become cats and dogs. Not only that, but there are plenty of adult cats and dogs that need good homes, and if anything, I've found that they can be just as much fun as the babies. And last but not least, I think it's absolutely sickening that some people have no qualms about discarding an animal once they grow tired of it or it becomes in any way troublesome. Animals are sentient beings with physical and psychological needs of their own, so they should be treated as such rather than as playthings.

People like to get animls while they are young because that is when the personality and habits are forming. It is easier for a younger animal to adapt to a new home, but people don't get rid of them once they get old, and if they do then they shouldn't get a pet at all.

Sometimes people are afraid to get adult dog because you just don't know there personality..For instinct ,i have pits but would never get one as adult because those kind of breeds are known to be abused and they may turn on you..I wish i had a big huge farm i would take so many animals in..I feel like you do but there's nothing you can do except report abusive people toward there animals..And when it comes to cats..i don't know why i would take a adult cat over a kitten due to they are already out of there mischievous ways.I have saved many dogs in my time..And the three i have now i tried a forth but its just not going to happen due to one of my dogs which is a catuhala and they are strictly one family owner.

Cats and dogs are usually trained in their ways. And like you said people want cute and cuddly. Me on the other hand prefer adult animals. They are generally easier to manage.

Because people like babies instead of adult animals. I think you answered your own question: Babies are "cuter." I'm proud to say my cat's age when she adopted me (she was 3) was a factor in my decision to adopt her over another equally adorable cat.

Some people are under the misconception that older animals are "harder to train" or "won't bond" with their new owners.

As the proud mom of two dogs who were rescued as seniors (approx 12 years old), I say - Bullcrap.

Most people buy them at a young age so they can raise and teach them the way they want to and once they are older it is harder for them to teach them what they want to because they are already used to another way!

people treat pets like children. Most people want babies if not they try to adopt...the same with pets...they want to be the ones who watch them grow.
