Frontline spray. Get it from your vets, it's safe to use on puppies and kittens from 2 days of age. It's the only safe thing that actually works.

I think people on here are going to suggest dawn dish soap - don't bother. Washing of any form does not get rid of fleas.

Also stay far away from treatments from pet stores, they shouldn't even be used on adult animals.

First let me tell you that I own a pest control company and what I will recommend is the complete treatment that should help you completely get rid of the fleas.

First, treat the pet with Capstar. This is a pill that you get from the vet that will kill all of the fleas that get on the animal for the first 24 hours. Second, use either Frontline or Advantage, these can also be purchased from the vet. Frontline can be used on pets 12 weeks old or older. Advantage can be used on animals as young as 6 weeks. If the pet is old enough for either product, switch back and forth between the two. One month use one, the next use the other. The reason I recommend this is that there are two main types of fleas that infest pets. One product works better on the first type and the other product works better on the second type. By using both, you make sure you have covered all your bases.

Once the pet has been treated, you must treat your home and yard. The best products to do this would include not only a killing agent, but also a sterilization agent. Inside, I would use Ultracide, if you can get it. (Many on line sites sell it.) Follow the instructions on the label Wash all animal’s bedding and vacuum frequently. I WOULD NOT put any chemical in the vacuum bag or catch container, other than a flea collar. It is too dangerous to risk the vacuum accidentally spreading that chemical through the air. Throw out the vacuum bag or dump the catch container after every vacuuming. You can never vacuum too much DO NOT STEAM CLEAN YOUR RUGS This can hatch flea eggs and make your problem worse.

Outside I would use Demon WP mixed with Gentrol or Nylar, carefully following label instructions. Treat the entire yard, paying special attention to under bushes and low hanging branches. Most of these products can be bought at any Do-It-Yourself Pest Control company either on line or in a store.

Treating your house and yard is just as important as treating the pet

It is also very important to stay away from the grocery store or box store products like Zodiac or Hartz. Many of these products can cause severe allergic reactions in animals.

The safest, but most time consuming, is a flea comb and a bowl of soapy water. Brush your puppy and dunk the fleas in the water. It is easiest if you pick a time when your pup is relaxed or tired out from exercise as this is an almost impossible method to try on a wriggly, excited dog. If you are both in a calm state of mind, it makes for a great bonding process and introduces your pup to grooming.

I feel that six weeks is quite young and that this way is effective if you are diligent. Just don't let any of the little biters get away.

aw a flea bath might actually be too soon for a puppy thats 6 weeks.. i really actually forget how many weeks exactly it is when its safe to bathe it with chemicals.. you should read up on that but prolly the safest is witha flea comb unless its REALLY horribly infested with fleas then you should talk to a vet about getting them all off...
good luck and i hope your puppy is oK!

depending on how many pounds your pup ways you can try a flea bath if you think the pup is too small use the original Dawn dish soap it will fill the fleas you may have to do it a few times but it is more gentle than a flea bath. if you cant do it on your own take the pup to the vet fleas are very serious they can cause heart worms

take the puppie to the vet and have them give it a flea bath. he should be ok in a couple of days. but don't forget, that although he will be flea free, you or your house won't. so start spraying it with raid flea spray, just follow directions. you should get rid of them in a couple of days also, just in time for you and your puppy to meet again and be flea free.

Go to your local feed & seed store. Tell them you want a product called Advantage 100. It's really good. To apply it, all you have to do is move the fur apart on the dog's neck and get one drop down on his skin. It is safe and will get rid of all fleas very fast. One tube is good for more than a year. I forget how much it costs, so it must not be all that expensive. I use it and it works.

Put apple cider vinegar in the water that he drinks. Just a little bit mixed it and it will help keep them away. You can also bathe the puppy with regular dishingwashing liquid and it kills the fleas.
