hi all my daughter has a bassett hound that she dearly loves its her first pet all her own. well we took him to the vet due to him limping on his front leg i thought i may be broke. during the visit the vet pulled and toughed on his leg and when she got to his shoulder you could see and here it pop. she said thats not good and took x-rays. well his limping was due to a sprain not a break think goodness but she found out he has dyspepsia not sure thats spelled rite. in both front shoulders and that it will cause him to have artherites and there is no treatment for it and it could be as soon as a yr from now he is only 7 months do you know anything about this and do you know how long it usually takes before it turns bad?

she's 2 months old and rescued. the family that had her before us fed her table scraps and whatever they had lying around because they couldn't afford kitten food. now she tries to eat off of our plates and digs through our trash cans, even though her bowl is always full. she also jumps onto the kitchen counters and lounges around in her litter box, which makes her smell VERY badly. last but not least, how do i keep her out of my other cat's litter box? she has her own separate box, but she uses both, which pisses off my adult male. and also, she still hasn't been responding to her name, even though we've had her almost a month. help please :[

I recently purchased 2 FBTS, from petsmart, was helped by a woman who owned the toads herself so i felt comfortable with her picking out what i needed. She provided me with a clip on lamp and a 75W basking bulb. She said all i need to do is place the lamp right on the tank surface in one corner of land. After doing much research im finding that the temps its providing ( 95-100+ degrees) are too high? Yet i went back to the store, every employee claims its perfectly fine...I decided to switch the bulbs for more standard looking Bulbs down to 60 watt, and now my overall temp is about 80 degrees...what's the deal with these guys? I mean a lot of the research online says no heat lamp is even neeeded but literally every single employee at the store including a girl who had these toads for years, said even the 75W was fine...Am i alright now with the 60W and temps around 80 humidity around 60%? Also, are these guy's supposed to be active? they dont move too much...my ACFS move around more...

I'm doing a presentation at my HS on Ancient Egyptian cats, and I think it would be cool to bring in an Abyssinian.

I have found two at my local shelter through petfinder, however, would it come across as rude if I were to ask if I could borrow one for the presentation?

Hello,

My boston terrier is now 5 months old and he is having issues with going to the bathroom in the house. My dog is in his crate during the day and at night for sometimes 7+ hours and he has no issues with holding his bladder for that long. Its very rare he has an accident in his crate. While he is out of this crate though he tends to pee sometimes of 10+ times in 8 hours or less. We take him out often and everytime he goes. He tends to have a few accidents a day in the house since he goes so often. He is a calm dog unless he gets worked up so i doubt its stress or anything. We are trying to create a routine for him so we know when he will have to go during the day but its kind of impossible when he goes so many times.... Any ideas or thoughts would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

How does one know if a rasbora is preggers? One of mine has suddenly gotten fat after I have seen it swimming around rather oddly with another one. I am curious to know if its going to have babies.

I was at this mutt mania thing today which was sponsored by shelters, you gave a ten dollar donation and then you could go to the park with your dog. There were lots of things like a mutt marathon where people walked their mutts around (Judge included there) in a line and that was cool. There were some contests and lots of booths set up, a lot with information about pet services and stores, some set up by the shelter that had some dogs and cats available for adoption there, and a lot of places with free samples. This is where the thing that bothered me came up.

I got dozens of little packages of food, which I'm probably going to use as treats anyway occasionally, and one bag caught my eye. Vegetarian dog food! I was just thinking, what the heck?! Some dogs survive on this? No meat at all in the dog food! That was just kinda odd...

Anyone have any insights on this kind of food?

I have a 5 month old pup, who is the most curious, hyper and overall mischievous boy I've ever seen! I don't know how to calm him down; whenever he is ANYWHERE, he is always sticking his nose in something, knocking things over, pulling apart, digging, and exploring! I can't even have him in my bedroom because he goes CRAZY! He'll pull my clothes off of their hangers, grab all the trinkets off of my desk, pull my blankets off of the bed, and EAT anything that seems edible! I keep seeing these dogs (at other peoples' houses) that walk around peacefully, ignoring newspapers (which my pup will chew up on sight), blankets, and trinkets (like the remote controllers) along the way! How do they do it? Why aren't these dogs chewing up everything on sight?? My pup has MILLIONS of toys to play with, so why is he so interested in everything he SHOUDN'T be playing with?

I don't want a "Comfort Retriever" I was just curious to see what they look like. http://www.timshellfarm.com/comfort_retrievers.html
http://www.timshellfarm.com/goldendoodles.html
Look around it and see the other dogs that they breed.
Can these people be in trouble if someone called Animal Control on them? They seem to have a lot of them.
I saw this on their Goldendoodle page

Our adult breeding dogs are:
Vet checked and/or tested to screen for genetic diseases including hip dysplasia, as deemed appropriate by authorities such as the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), the American Kennel Club (AKC), professional breed clubs/organizations and our own veterinarians;
Checked regularly at our veterinarians for health maintenance and suitability for breeding;
Kept current on all immunizations, and anti-parasitic program including heartworms;
Highly socialized with much hands-on attention and daily play; and Fed a balanced diet and are given health supplements (especially during heats, gestation and lactation).

I have been making my dogs Home Made Dog food for years. I take into consideration what dogs need (Protien, Carbs, Fats and Vitamins). And I make them things like chicken and rice, meatloaf, eggs and toast and bacon. My girlfriend says this is abuse they need dog food. I say prior to the invention of dog food dogs ate table scraps or killed for their foods whos right? I don't like feeding them dog food its gross and made with crap I wouldn't eat why should I expect my dogs to eat it?

My 15 year old female cat has just gone into heat. She was neutered when she was 6 months or so. There is a male cat hanging around that has caught her attention and I really don't think I can take any more of the yowling! I've never heard anything like it!!
Im so close to letting the silly cow out and let him have his wicked way with her!!
Can anyone tell me - is it safe for her to mate with him i.e could she get pregnant?
Has the neutering job 'reversed' itself with age?
Also, why has this happened at 15 years of age?
Thanks very much.

Claire.
