My 5 yrs old boxer dog is a defensive dog when it comes to cleaning her teeth. I've tried the best (and the easiest I've ever seen) dog toothbrush, still she is reluctant of letting me brush her teeth. The only thing she accepts is my finger, and am considering buying a finger-brush but its so difficult to find them in New Zealand.

Any suggestions?

PS Haven't introduced brushing to her until recently, I know it's a little too late but my dad won't let me buy anything for my little girl apart from food and worming tablets. The other supplies like grooming, flea products and toys, over the years I secretly bought stuffs for her, got pretty much everything now.

I just took my dog into the vet today and he was diagnosed as having Parvovirus. I know that it's a deadly disease for dogs who get no treatment. I just want to know if anybody has had a dog treated for the disease and what was the outcome?

My dog is a pitbull/akita mix she isnt big just skinny and medium height and my friends say she looks like a hyena cause of her brindle color and the way she drops her head sometimes when she walks. But when ever i tell them what she is people either back up or leave. sometimes i dont even tell them and they just avoid me and tell me to leash the dog. And to make things worse alot of the time when people try to pet it she snarls or barks at them although she has played with 3yr olds and is really calm. But people are usually scared before they find that out.

We got this cat about 2 months ago and we just realized it has fleas. I am afraid that I will bring them into my house after visiting with my boyfriedn at his apartment. I see him everyday basically. Is it on a rare basis that I can carry them into my house after visiting him? He is also moving into a new apartment soon and I want to know how we can move without bringing the fleas into his new apartment?

i dont want my pup to get fleas or tick so i asked my vet what products i should use and she recommended frontline... its a little pricey but if its worth it i will get it.
so i am asking for your help because the last time the vet recommended something for Mater, my dog, it was HILLS SCIENCE DIET... and i heard alot of not so good thing about it... so what do you think?!

My dog started getting irritated on the top of his shoulder. Now he has lost a patch of hair about 5cm by 5cm, now it has gotten worse and has lost his hair all down that leg. it is not irritating him that much, he hardly scratches it but often i see him licking it. The area is not red and does not look to be infected. Does any1 out there know what to do with it? Any good recommended creams, tablets?

I once lived on a farm so I was pretty callous when animals normally passed away, but when I had to put down one of my dogs I cried and cried, and even now, almost a year later, thinking about it too much really makes me sad.

I realize they are just animals, but have you experienced real grief for one of your pets at any time?

i know someone, who i clean house for that has a dog that is DEBARKED!!!!! that dog is sooo wonderful, as all are, but just the fact that he can't bark, breaks my heart! i look into her eyes, and they really touch my soul! it just dosen't seem right to me, , i mean dogs bark! it's what they do! and seems so sad that she can't.
what do you think of this? and what's you'r opinion? does it hurt the dag in any way?

My dog is a siberian husky and we've had him a few years now, and about 2 years after we got him he would always bite/chew/rip the hair out on his paws. It's gotten pretty bad now. You know when you scrape your knee on the concrete? Well thats how his two front paws are. Kinda like cuts/scrapes. He's starting at his tail now. We've been to the vet and he gave us some kind of spray, but it didn't really work and cost us an arm and leg. My mom ordered him more medicine but it hasn't came yet. Is there anything we can do for him? It breaks my heart, the poor thing. He's also rather FAT. Seriously he weights 104 pounds, but he doesn't really eat much...Does he need a diet?...

so last night i gave my dog a bath and then cleaned his ears with just a little bit of the drops (i havent cleaned his ears in a while so i figured he was due for a cleaning...). this evening, everytime i touch the base of his ear he yelps and cries and runs away... obviously in a lot of pain! there isnt an oder and he hasnt been scratching it... so do you think it is an ear infection and do i need to take him to the vet asap? or do you think his ears are just sensitive and it will pass? thanks for any help! im so worried about my little boy!

Adopted from the SPCA. She had been shot and abused. The last 4 years she has been a perfect companion. We had her on all of the meds that are normal for dog. She got a cold. Then her abdomen enlarged. She started using the restroom in the house, she slept all the time and doesnt jump on the bed or couch anymore. The vet took an xray. Her heart is inlarged and has little fluid in her lungs. He wants to do expensive tests. We love her. she is 15 years old. We decided to put her down. We havent yet. We want to know if this is the right thing to do.

My fish has had a bloated stomach for two weeks, at first I thought it was just constipation and fed it pea. But then it pooped. Now today his scales has just started pineconing. I was thinking about giving it an epson salt bath and using a combination of maracyn 1 and 2. I have a 1 gallon tank, what is the proper dosage of the two maracyn meds?

I really want a puppy and I have to convince dad that we can have one, the problem is, we do not have a secure fence. Is there any way to keep a puppy without a fence, if so what breeds?
