I'm referring to Vicks, of course, who the NFL still hoped might come back after his suspension - after he raised, trained and fought LOTS of dogs. Now that he's been found with marijuana in his system he may not be able to come back. I for one think he should have lost his contract and any chances of coming back after the dog charges. What message is this sending to the children... abuse and train animal to hurt each other...just don't use pot?
Your thoughts?

In TV i see vets kill astray dogs or cats because nobody claimed ownership and sick or old animals out of mercy.
Is that right ?

Hello,
We've had our cat a few months and he's still not confident on using his cat flap on his own. He tends to miaow very loudly at the back door to be let in instead.
We've tried holding titbits and treats each side of the cat flap to encourage him, but he appears nervous of pushing it himself (it's magnetic and make a 'snap' noise when it closes that I think scares him!).
Any advice? It'll be really nice when he gets the hang of it as he can then gain his complete independence!
Thanks in advance,..... :-)

Hi everyone, i have a tank of guppies that i purchased 3 weeks ago. I only had 6 fish to start in a large 96 litre tank. I was adviced that the filter needs to mature, which I beleive it has done as the water used to be a little cloudy and now it is crystal clear (without any intervention at all). I started with 6 fish but i am now down to 3 as the others died over 3 weeks. I am not overfeeding and am treating the tank with both an antibacterial medicine and an antifungal one (as adviced from shop). I was wondering whether it would be possible to buy some more fish this weekend despite the recent deaths... The other 3 seem absolutely fine and they are eating well and are very active.

To be honest, i want to buy more as only 3 fish in a 96 litre tank does look a little silly. What does everyone think?

I am looking for some advice on housing.

I am looking at getting 2 does, as all my rabbits are kept in pairs.

I will get the hutch made specailly for them. I know 6 x 2 x 2 ft if min size. What size do you think I should get it made??

Also what do you think about having 2 levels?? It would be alot wider than 2ft if I did get it with 2 levels.

Any advice would be greatful on Continental rabbits as this is what I will be getting.

Tonight I noticed my 7 yr old cat is hungry, but can't eat. With every attempt at eating, he spits up about a tablespoon of white/clear, frothy, mucousy saliva. I don't see any food in what he's spitting up, but it happens immediately after he tries to eat or even if he tries to just lick his food. He also spit up once when I picked him up and once when he was just relaxing. He still walks around, but doesn't seem interested in too much movement (totally unusual for him as he's usually VERY energetic, especially at night). If I hadn't seen him throw up, though, I wouldn't think anything was wrong (besides being a little more relaxed than usual) as his weight and his coat are fine. He also has a small bump near his left ear that looks like a bite of some sort. Larger than a flea bite, I'm thinking maybe a spider bite?

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Assuming it's a bite, what can I do to help him? I'm taking him to the vet if he's not better tomorrow, but in the meantime, what?

he is fully vaccinated but i don't have the sheet stating he is up to date on his shots!
i have no way of getting into contact with my old vet (closed now)
he is fixed so it's obvious he has been to a vet!
he has ear mites from our new kitten (who i can get treated)
but i don't have the money to get all of his vaccines re-done!
which would be a lot
what would a vet do in this kind of situation?
i don't want to hear that i should have more money if i want a cat because my fiance and i have fallen on tight times as of recently and we are just working the money situation out.

I found this pet on the street, I have him on the leash on my backyard. I been taking him for a walk every other morning, but people would run from it, saying what am I doing with a giant rat on the leash. I been feeding dog food and he likes it, so it has to be a chiwawa...

Until this morning, i thought i had 2 female rabbits until i went to let them out of hutch and feed them then i noticed something up the corner. When i looked closer i realised there were 4 baby rabbits. I've now got an idea which is the female from the hair surrounding the babies.

The babies dont seem to be moving but i dont want to disturb them just in case its the way they are when they're born.

I didnt plan on having these babies, although i will give them a good home.

I just need some advice on whether i should now seperate the male and female and should the babies be moving or how can i tell if they're still alive.

Sorry to sound so thick but this is totally new to me, unplanned and i guess i'm still in shock!

Any serious advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

My elderly Jack Russell picked up fleas a few weeks ago. She has a flea allergy and started biting herself until she was raw and pulled a lot of hair out of her back.

She has been treated (as has our other dog) for the fleas with Frontline and the Vet gave her a lampshade/Elizabethan collar to stop her doing any more damage to herself.

This was two weeks ago and she's still trying to bite herself! I can't take the collar off her because she just won't leave her skin alone! As a result she's not giving it time to heal.

Has anyone got any advice? Do you think she's just got into the habit of biting herself and now can't break the cycle?

My hamster is about 7 weeks old, just got back from the pet store after I returned him because he had wet tail. They nursed him back to health. Last night he ran on his wheel all night long, tonight he is just curled up in a ball in his house, seems to be sleeping a lot. I checked, no wet tail, he is eating and though I haven't seen him drink his water bottle is working. Help - what could this be?

i have a huge problem, i have two labradors, one golden and one cross breed chocolate lab. They have been together since a very young age and always been very troublesome, but the chocolate one is the problem. It was hard enough before but now i am five months pregnant, i cant handle then both and i know that when the baby comes it will be mayhem, after alot of thought i am considering giving up the chocolate lab but obviously i want her to go to a very nice home as she needs lots of attention, i dont want her to be put down in any circumstance.i love her to pieces but just cannot manage her anymore. What can i do to ensure she will be well looked after? advertise her in a paper?. Take her to a dogs homes, i just dont know, please help.

I recently brought may be a 5 gallon fish bowl with 2 goldfish. My gold fish kept dying one after. Then I cleaned the tank and brought two more but they died too. Since I use tap water, my Aquarium guy suggested I use rock salt, which I did. I also use a small water pump. My 1st fish died of less oxygen, other 2 had some white fungus on them and they died. Another one just died. I have one more now, but it seems to be dying too. This one has some white stuff on its body. I even used anti fungal treatment. I also do a 25% water change every week or less. Every time I put new fish I made sure I cleaned the tank well with water only. I am scared to buy new fish since they are dying. Please do help me. What could I be doing wrong? I don't put more than 2 fish in my tank and now i have only one.

LoL he's getting so healthy, I'm so happy. He's such a little angel. If he's sleeping, and he does that quite a bit, he's recovering after all, and I nudge him, he'll whine in his sleep. Just make a little, whiny noise letting me know he didn't like that. If I bug him while he's sleeping he whines for a little while longer. And when he's playing, he does that a lot too, he just runs around and jumps at the air. It's so funny. I'm enjoying watching him get better. Tomorrow he has a check up! It's the critical point, we find out how he's doing

I have a 9 year old Rottweiler (named Belle) who is having some trouble with arthritis. She is becoming more stiff as the nights get colder, I'm doing what I can for her. I let her sleep on my bed, and on the couch when she's in the living room. I am also giving her Bayer Asprin (I asked my vet about the appropriate dose), but she is still limping a bit through out the day. Is there anything else I can do the ease her arhritis pain without having to put her on a perscription medication?

My two guinea pigs have always gotten along really well. They are female and about 9 months and have always been together. They get equal time out with me (hours a day) and receive the same treats, etc. Well, tonight I noticed one of them has been chasing the other, nipping at her, and jumping on her back and side. The one being purused is a bit smaller and I'm getting worried. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do? The smaller one is on medicine, could the other think shes getting a special treat?

I have a three year old colt. Up until now I've used a snaffle bit, but now I'm looking for something a little more effective. How do I tell what kind of bit to use?? I heard tons of people say not to use the western, but when I ask they all tell me it depends on the horse. But, dumb me, I'm not sure what kind my horse needs!! lol Any suggestions how how to pick one out?

Okay, my rats keep on pushing bedding through the bars and it normally sticks all over the bars and stuff, most of it falls out of the cage, but ive just cleaned them and they are straight at it... so its not dirty...
They do it with all of their bedding... but I use 2 types, this cushiony type of white bedding and this blue shredded dish cloth material type of bedding...
Also when they do it... the bedding rides up part of the cage and its always in the same bit.. so could it be a draft or they dont like the bedding or anything else?
