I found this pet on the street, I have him on the leash on my backyard. I been taking him for a walk every other morning, but people would run from it, saying what am I doing with a giant rat on the leash. I been feeding dog food and he likes it, so it has to be a chiwawa...

If it likes dog food and walks with you, then who cares if it's a giant rat.
You could enter it into the ugliest dog contest and win...unless they disqualify you cause it's a rat!!!

Firstly, how many people have actually said it was a giant rat on a leash? If it's only one or two, I don't know what's their problem confusing a Chihuahua (it's spelled this way.) and a giant rat (??).
If it's a large number like 4 onwards, I think you could be checking with a vet if it really is a Chihuahua.
A Chihuahua usually have large ears that are standing; kind of like Mickey Mouse. I'm not sure about the giant rat thing, but if there really are giant rats, you could expect the ears to be pointing at an angle to the front.

Most carnivorous and omnivorous animals, including rats, will eat dog food, so I wouldn't base your judgment just on that.
I've heard a lot of people call small dogs rats too. And they also call my rats mice, so I would just assume people are stupid.
