Your dog not supposed to behave this way, as my 3 dog won't do this to me.
I will get their feeding bowl up whenever i want, and they will just watch me taking away, with wagging their tail..that show they are not Aggressive.
What happen to your dog,are you the first owner?
As my friend dog, behave the same thing as you are facing now,she is NOT the first owner, now the dog she having now, is her friend move house, so the friend give it to her..
As she want to take the feeding bowl away, her dog show a fierce look, like want to bite her,it really scare her,it was not right, so, she call me up and ask what to do..

So i told her to leave the feeding bowl there, until the dog walk off,and try to spend time with the dog as much as possible,as the dog just come in her house 2week only.

And to let the dog more socalized more with other dog and people..and also let the dog Destress,by walking out more often..
And also to let the dog know you are the leader, not the dog.
By saying NO, when it was the right time.

He should not do this. Be very strict about it. You say that you're his owner but it seems that you should work a little more to teach him who the leader is. This is an instinct. He does not want you to touch his food since he does not want to share it. But you should be the leader of the pack and you should teach him that you can put away his bowl whenever you want to. Besides he should wait for you to fill the bowl and let him to eat. These trainings are important since most unpleasant accidents happens when someone tries to touch the food bowl or favourite toy.
If you will not be determined and leave him be that way you may not fix it in future.

Good luck

food aggression is common but not a normal good behavior. aggression at my house of any sort is met by me...and u better bet my dog will give me way ever i want. u don't have to be rough but firm.

this is a leadership problem. i would have scuffed the dog just like st lady said. there is no call for this. and removeing ur hand just reinforces the dog that he is in control
for u to control make him sit for his food. hand feed him. and teach him that if u take he will get it back when he is calm there is no reason to act like that.
this could get bad very bad. it starts with food then goes on to toys and chew toys. stop it now before its outta hand. if u can't train him not to seek a trainers help.

Food aggression should not be tolerated. In the wild, dogs would have to fend for themselves, which meant protecting the food they found. It's extremely important that people start teaching their dogs at a young age that aggression will not be tolerated, especially around food. Imagine a young child reached down to touch the food bowl instead of you. By acting in an aggressive manner, he's telling you to back off; it's his food. I would recommend you look up some training methods online for food aggression and see if you can train him to see that people aren't going to take his food away and never give it back.

This behavior is NORMAL instinct. Unless you train your dog to let you take his food away, he will revert to his animal instinct. Now. If you have trained him not to have an aggressive reaction when you try to remove his food from him, then he is not behaving as you have trained him. This may be a problem. He may not be feeling secure that he will get enough to eat. If there are other animals near by, he may have felt threatened about losing his dinner. If he has been teased in this manner, he may be tired of being teased. But if none of these things are the case, and you have not taught him that he must let you take his food away if you so choose, then his reaction is pure animal instinct. I hope you let him know that you were unhappy with his reaction.

Right then and there you should have scruffed the dog. This will become a dangerous habit if allowed to continue. No dog should ever be food aggressive. Sorry but this is one of those circumstances where I'da kicked the crap out of the dog if it were mine. My female Saint tried this once. Lets just say she backs away from the bowl if I get close to it now.

Absolutely not. It is not normal for your dog to show aggression when ANYONE is taking his food, let alone you. It IS normal for you to feel comfortable with leaving your dog with anyone without having to give special instructions like "don't touch his food when he's eating".

Food aggression is common but should not be tolerated in a dog. By being aggressive and making you back off he is showing you that he is in charge over this, when actually you should be.

I'd recommend asking a dog trainer about this, it can get complicated depending on how bad the situation actually is. However, I do think it's important that you fix the problem soon before someone gets hurt. Any sort of aggression is a serious problem.

Actually, even in human its not nice to get someone else's food especially when the are eating right? Its a matter of respect also..though My dog was like that too before when she was a puppy but i never tolerated her..what i did although she is growling at me is that i wrap my hand up to my arm with a thick towel [in case she attacked me] and i get her food out of her..then i hold her at her nose like i was holding her mouth too as well and said dont ever do that or you wont eat..i didnt fed her in a day, sounds ironic but she did understand that i didnt like what she did..since then she learned her lesson..now even i tested her by holding or getting the bone she is chewing she never showed me any aggression at all..even towards my cat, before she used to eat my cats food and try to scared them away by her growling, but when i pulled her away and i showed her i mean bussiness, and told her to wait till they are finished eating before she can eat their leftovers, Now you'll see her sitting besides my cats if their still eating and constantly waiting for her turn. Sometimes she will look at me like she was asking permission to eat their food when my cats left already, and then ill tell her its okay you can eat it now then she'll go. But sometimes its funny coz she was like crying if she sees that my cats almost finished their food..I dont know my dog hates to waste food that she always finished everything as i said as well as my cats food. But everything will depend on your training..you should show your dog who'se the boss!

No - food agression is not normal and is something you should definitely seek out the help of a dog trainer to train out of your dog. You - or someone else - runs the risk of being seriously hurt if your dog lashes out at someone.

To understand how serious this is - shelters that find a dog seriously food agressive tend to euthanize those pets - they just don't want someone to end up injured or worse.
