He will shed in his own good time without help from you.

As stated above, ball pythons with shedding problems are kept in too dry conditions. Keep the humidity up and this won't be a problem. In the meantime, daily warm water soaks, with a towel on the bottom to rub on, would be helpful.

One thing which commonly gets over looked is the level of humidity in the tank. Since Ball Pythons spend a lot of time underground in burrows or in termite nests, they are more sensitive to relative humidity than one might expect. I would suggest you stop by your local K-mart or Wal-mart and get a hygrometer× from the outdoor/garden section. They are accurate enough to provide a close estimate, and allow you to monitor changes in humidity. I recommend the ambient humidity be at least 60%, and you may want to provide a hide box which has a higher percent (70-80%). Low humidity can cause incomplete shedding, dehydration, and sometimes a lack of appetite. To either add or remove humidity, you can provide bigger or smaller water bowls. You can restrict, but not stop, air flow from the tank. You can use porous substrates (i.e. mulch) that will hold some moisture and mist the cage every so often. I feel that if you provide a big water bowl with a hole cut in the lid, the snake will use it as another hide and soak/re-hydrate itself as needed.

Could just be delayed for some reason. Soak the snake a couple times a day for 3-5 days and observe. DO NOT attempt to start the shed if none has occurred. If it does not start within the next week after soaking, consult with a vet or experienced herpetologist, Good luck.

Sometimes snakes will 'go blue' twice before they actually shed. As far as those dented eyes I have no idea. However, wait and see if he sheds ok on his own. If not, then you can help him out but you should try to let him do it first if he can.

no! let nature take its course. You can help him along with providing him a good place to soak. It sounds like it is dehydrated. Keep the enclosure clean at all times. make sure water is changed on a daily basis. make sure substrate is clean also. I use newspaper sheets for substrate in all of our enclosures at our research facility. We have over 180 venomous specimens, and they all thrive with using newspaper sheets for substrate. But to get back to your question, no... do not help it. it may do more harm than good.

dented in or prunish looking eyes mean you have low humidity levels. just lightly mist the tank and the reptile and keep the humidity levels within good parameters (50-60%) and all should be ok.

you need to keep his cage and food as clean as possible and he will eventually shed or not shed at all
