I need help from someone who knows alot about fish and aquariums. How does my tank sound? Its a 10 gallon tank with a filter and a heater. the temperature is at about 76 degrees. I have 4 cardinal tetras, 1 dwarf gourami, 1 leopard angel fish, 2 guppie (male and female), and 1 silver hatchet. It sounds like alot but there all very small. How long will my fish live for? What should be the conditons of my tank? are all the fish going to get along? thanks!!

you will definately need to take out your angelfish once it reaches 2 inch in hight, they need a 30 gallon high to thrive and have a good live

all the others are fine with each other

Hope that helps
Good luck

Along with what Eve said, the Angelfish and Gourami will eventually fight over who has the nicest fins and who "controls" most of the tank. This will lead to shredded and possibly injured fish. As was stated, when it is big enough, the Angel will reach 6+ inches and needs a 30+ gallon tank. Hatchetfish are VERY active schoolers, so a single Hatchet in a 10 gallon tank will be miserably confined all alone. Get rid of the Hatchet and look into other surface dwelling fish like White Cloud Minnows (buy 5) that are less hyper. Also, the Guppies will likely breed, but considering your other fish, I don't think you will have too much trouble keeping their numbers in check (the other fish will eat the fry).

Soop Nazi

EDIT: With weekly maintenance, your fish SHOULD (assuming there will be no diseases) live this long:

Angel- 5-10 years
Dwarf Gourami- 5 years
Guppies- 2-3 years
Cardinal Tetras- 2-3 years
Hatchet- a few months (yours will die of stress because it can't school).

I'm not for sure on the compatibility on these fish. You definitely should have researched them a lot more before you bought them.
There are a lot of questions I have. First, please tell me you cycled this tank? If so that's a good start. If not your fish won't live long at all.

And personally 10 gallons is way too small. It's going to be hard to keep your ammonia<0 nitrites<0 and nitrates<40ppm. The bigger the aquarium the easier it is to take care of.
I would definitely get a larger tank.... I have 3 dwarf gourami's in a 30G.

You need to take the angelfish out. Angelfish need at least 30 gallons each and will most likely get aggressive with the gourami - even if it isn't now, it will most likely.

You also need more hatchets since they prefer to shoal. More cardinal tetras might also be a good idea for this reason, but only if the angelfish is gone, because you would be overstocking otherwise.

Lastly, you need to cycle your tank or you are going to lose fish in a couple of weeks. You can read about how to do that here:

I know the gourami and guppy and tetras will get along although the tetra and guppies may nibble on the gourami's antennae, I'm not familiar with the silver hatchet and Angels I think are to be kept alone, they grow big! And fast! 2 years is the lifespan of your fish's besides the hatchet and Angels, which I'm not familiar with. 76-80 is good temp. for the water and it should be somewhat alkaline for the Guppies, tetra and gourami so 7-8.5 Hope that's some help :)

Sounds pretty good . I would raise the temp to 78 degrees F.Watch that the Angelfish doesn't get big enough to eat the cardinals .Cardinals can live for 10 years or even more .The gourami about 4 years ,guppies about 3 years hatchet fish about 2 years .

I would say first off you need much larger tank
as you have many fish that need growing room & hidding room as well....

All those can live fine with other. The angelfish is going to be the problem fish it like be in charge and picks on other fish.

So you will need lots of plants and decor like Castle or rock so they can hide

I would with like 30 gallon tank or bigger

It sounds like your pets will live up to 1-3 years fish don't last very long unless you look after them 24/7

Once the Angel fish gets bigger than the other fish, it will eat/ attack them. Also, Angel fish require a bigger tank.
