I am thinking my dog is a Lab shiba inu mix but his sisters are tan and some are black, and one is tan and black and yellow and one has some white on her chest.

could the mom have mated with more then one dog but had one litter or would the dad be a black and tan color?

It is possible for a dog to mate with more than one other dog. And because a female dog has multiple eggs your dog could have puppies in one litter from two different males (depends on which sperm gets to the eggs). As far as the coloring...this can also depend on traits. Yes the dad could be black and tan...but it could also depends on traits from the females parents or the males parents.

Hope this helps

Yes, it's very possible.

However, later "matings" will produce younger pups. Even a few days can make a big difference in a litter. Usually, the "runt" or the smaller pup(s) are the products of a later mating.

Yes,during a female's heat cycle she can breed more than one male and only have one litter, but different pups in the litter will have different sires.

I do believe that this is very possible. If the dam mates with two different breeds, I believe that she can produce two different types of mixes...of course, I'll be curious what the experts say.

I'll star this...see if anyone else knows.
