I'm doing a presentation at my HS on Ancient Egyptian cats, and I think it would be cool to bring in an Abyssinian.

I have found two at my local shelter through petfinder, however, would it come across as rude if I were to ask if I could borrow one for the presentation?

Be the cat for a minute. Some big furless freak comes and scoops you up, takes you away from your buddies at the homeless shelter, brings you to some place where other freaks make a scene over you (while you are made to stand still and be observed), and then, rather then being brought to a nice home, you get dumped off back at the shelter. Not abuse, exactly, but it might suck. I think it would be cool to bring YOUR Abyssinian in! Why not give one of these cats a loving home? If not, sorry, it's not as cool as the real thing, but your teacher won't knock you down a grade if you bring in pics instead of the real deal.

They most likely won't let you borrow a cat. They would have to worry about it being cared for properly and you actually bringing the cat back. Cats get stressed out easily, especially around lots of strangers, so the cat would probably freak out and try and run away. Just take a bunch of pictures to show your class.

they wont let you just borrow one. You will probably have to sign up to be a foster parent for a cat. Thats the only way I think that it will work. Talk to the people at the shelter.

I highly doubt they would let you borrow a cat. They may allow you to take a picture of the cat to bring for your presentation though, you can ask them if you can do that.

Go take pictures of it for your presentation. They aren't going to let you borrow a cat.

No, it wouldn't come across rude, just a tad strange. I don't know if they would let you, considering there are a lot of psycho people in the world right now if you know what i mean. I would go ahead and ask, though.

Ask if one of the shelter employees or volunteers could bring the cats to school for you.

maybe you could ask them to come down and show the cat, they might do that, then they could tell everyone that they are up for adoption. but i doubt they will let you borrow them.

They probably would not let you borrow a cat. They may let videotape them playing and such to show people how they move.

i don't think it would be rude, but they might be a little put off at the request not to mention the responsibility issue, especially if you're a teenager. they may encourage you and your parents to look into pet adoption.
