We found a snake on my patio. He has dark shades of green and is very small and resembles a boa I think. Does not seem aggressive but after being held too long did try to bite (and he does have teeth).Has a light line going long ways down his top.

I am looking to buy an older trail horse. Im not a begginer but I want something quiet with lots of trail miles already under its saddle. I found a 17 yr old, childsafe,TWH mare that sounds like what I am looking for . The owners are asking $400. I'm going to look at her this weekend. Is $400 too much to pay for a 17 yr old. My boyfriend says its too much for a horse of that age. I dont think so but I want somebody to back me up..LOL Do you guys think that its too much to pay and i am curious to know what a horse of that age and training would go for in your area? I live in south west Georgia.

I recently became the owner of an 18 month old pit bull dog. She is in need of a manicure, and I can't afford to take her to a groomer. I bought an at-home manicure kit, but the instructions weren't very informative. They said to be careful about cutting the vein. What vein? How short is too short? I love my dog, and don't want to hurt her. If anyone can suggest a good website about dog grooming or if anyone has any tips--Thanks!

She is so frustrated in bumping in to things...she continues to sit in one place...thus not getting any excerise...I usually tell her to be careful when she goes out and with that command she knows to slow down...and turns her head....but I have to be with her all the time and talk to her...otherwise she is still healthy and is eatting and deficating...I don't want to loose her but if she is in pain or sick...I would have to do that...

Today I had to put my 4 month old black and tan coonhound to sleep. I want to know more about why my puppy died than just "because his chances of survival was really low". Well, here are the details. When we brought my dog into the vet's place, he was really weak. He couldn't even move. His head was lying down, and he seemed like he was suffering. He couldn't even keep his mouth closed. Anyway long story short, the doctor told us that his body temperature was so low enough not to be registered by the machine, that he was very skinny, and that he didn't respond to any stimuli. Basically, he was in a critical state. The doctor also ran a test to see if he had parvo. It came out to be negative. What I'm confused about is why did this happen? He was just fine during the weekends. He was pretty active. Also he was eating well, until about Monday. We wondered why he was just lying around, and not eating anything. Then he threw up more than he usually did. Help. I wanna know what happened.

What do you think? How can we help? What will it take to educate the general public?

someone please help me !!

i think two of my female dalmation mollies are sick . . . they're both
-really really still
-their fins look somewhat slicked back, so their body looks all flat.
-they dont swim, only if i give food or if i try to move them.
-whenever they TRY to swim, they look awkward, the fins on the side looks REALLY stiff.
-they kind of teeter and totter when they're swimming, not really big though.

-and now one of my male mollies are gradually becoming like that too.
-i noticed it today after i came back from school around 2:15..

what's wrong ??
are they sick ?!

they werent like this before..
OH AND TWO DAYS AGO I BOUGHT TWO BALLOON MOLLY FISH AND ADDED THEM TO THE TANK.

could it be because of them ??

I'm so sick of people who are pit bull supporters trying to justfy this breed maiming people by saying "Oh but chihuahuas bite too." "Pomeranians can be vicious." ect ect do you not realize how stupid that sounds? Come on that's like comparing a BB gun to a bazooka! Let us take a moment shall we? Pom attacks someone they need a bandaid one or two stitches at most, pit bull attacks they get thier face ripped off or die! Chihuahua goes after a five year old the child kicks it away or a parent kicks it away, pit bull goes after a five year old they are lucky someone near by is strong enough to take the dog down if not the child is mauled and scared for life or dies. See the difference??

So far I have...

1. Is it spayed?
2. Is it up to date with it's shots?
3. Is it house/crate train?
4. Is it good with other dog/children?
5. Currently, what kind of food does it eat?
6. Why are you giving it up?

WHAT ELSE?!

We have three Olde English Bulldogges. The oldest is a male, and we have two females that we breed with him. Well, we have only bred the oldest female with him so far. Anyway, he was a great, perfect dog before he got some, lol. But now, he thinks he is Mr. stud-muffin, and for the last year (since they were first bred) he is hiking his leg all over the place, and getting aggressive with me when I puish him for it (put him in his cage). He hasn't bitten me, but I think he may. I don't know how to get this behavior to stop, and whenever I ask my vet (or anyone else) they always just tell me either to neuter him, keep him outside, or live with it!! What kind of answers are those?? All three of our dogs are members of our family - We love them very much and do not want to banish him outdoors! I'm also not going to neuter a dog that was originally bought for the puurpose of breeding! What to do? I love my baby and don't want to have to give him away or something :(

My dog is 3 and has had several heats but this is th first since she had puppies a year ago. Lat week I took her to the vet for allergies and he said he thought she was coming into heat. She had some blackish blood in her privates (he looked because I asked if he thought she was in heat). Anyway nothing all week then today she has started bleeding and it is thick and dark. She is taking Clavomax for a possible infection. When she didn't start heat I took her back and he didn't know what it was so put her on an anitbotic. I really don't think anything is wrong with her though just her heat is funky. Has anyone had a dog with a heat like this? Thanks, sorry for the long winded explaination!

I know that many people have heard of puppy mill puppies. They have also heard of puppies produced from BYB's.

However, have you ever seen a puppy from one of these places?

Here is a link to the rescue I have. Her name is Dori. She is a 7 pound Shih Tzu. The breed standard for the Shih Tzu is 9 - 16 pounds. She has several other major defects, eyes, frail bone structure, etc.

What do you think? Do you have any links to pictures too? Please post them!

Anyone know the clear cut signs that your dog may/has heartworm? Are there signs or is the only way to know if they do to take them and have blood drawn?

Are all dogs born with heartworms?

My male betta fish refuses to eat. It's been like this for the past 3 days. I'm really concerned. He just swims around and around the tank and doesn't even aknowlage that there is food in the bowl. I've only had him for about 3 months, but is it possible he's dying? I've had 3 bettas previous to him so it's not like I'm doing anything wrong...what should I do?
