I have had my cat for 7 years (sense she was a month old) and the other day at work me and a co-worker were talking and i asked why her arms were scrached (i honestly thought maybe a dispute between her and her bf because i know her and her bf have been haveing problems) and she said she got them brushing her cats teeth, i was like wtf!?!?! and i thought she was kidding. I honestly never knew you were suppost to brush your cats teeth...How should you do it? and how often? I looked at my cats teeth when i got home that night and they looked white and healthy (no cracks, werent yellow, and her gums werent inflamed)

I just got my cat a week ago and there is one room that we dont want him in and that is our bedroom. So when it is time for bed we close our bedroom door. Well he will sit there all night crying. Should i just let him in or keep it closed or what do i do???Oh and the reason we dont want him in there at night is cuz when the baby sleeps we fear he might snuggle to close....

hi i am about to give up

the fleas in our 3 bed rented house are seriously getting us down, its stopping us get on with our normal lives. so manppl say try spraying, hoovering, we've been doin that since last saturday. were treating the dog with frontline but there still here.

but i feel my only option now is fumigation (professionally)

but my trouble is we have a hell of lot of junk, boxes, papers, storage (we had to take my boyf's dad's stuff from storgae) because he had no room for it. and we still need to sort through it all/sell it

my problem is when would be the best time to fumigate? and the dog would still have them on him,

surely the guy cannot physically spray in every single thing, bags, in amonst dvd's, books, boxes?

and what about our clothes, we cant wash them all, we'd be there for eternity. and we dont want to chuck all of them, what about handbags, shoes etc?

please help i am giving up hope seriously its plunging me into depression more and more

Hi all

We are in the process of booking to get our 14 month old labrador desexed. I realise all the health benefits of doing this (plus she had her first heat a few months ago and it was no fun for anyone involved!) however, I am concerned as to whether she will experience much pain after the procedure.
Can anyone ease my mind or share their experiences of having a female dog desexed?
Also did you notice a change in temperament with your dog after the surgery?

i hear a lot of negative about this breed every day from families neighbors, to police, and my own family. i deal with it every day because i have a young baby and a pitbull. Thats the only dog i've ever had tho, n i've never had problems. its the only breed i would have because of where i live. i beleive its all in how they axre raised because my son and dog are best friends. and my son is eight months old. i cried when my first pit died n went into an actual depression. so why is there so much hatred for this breed of dog and not other breeds?

We just got a new puppy and my old dog is afraid of him

The old dog is a female chihuahua that is very unkind to most strangers and is terrified of other dogs/animals. She is 5 years old

The new dog is a male 4 month old chihuahua that is very playful and full of energy

We got the puppy two months ago and she stills doesn't like him. We have tried putting a muzzle on her and putting them in the same room, but all she does is stay in the same spot until we take the muzzle off.

Whenever he gets near her she growls and will go for his face if he gets too close. She doesn't try to attack him when they are apart, only when he gets close to her

Sometimes when Im on the computer she lays next to my feet and the puppy comes up and lays in front of her with his head to the floor. All she does is turn her head sideways and not look directly at him.

Sometimes when we let him in she goes and hides in my room and does not come out

Also, what do I say to them when she tries to bite him.

I took part in a horse rescue today. 60 horses total were removed from some of the filthiest conditions I have ever seen stalls in.
Six weeks ago Animal Control (a Division of the IL dept of AG) was tipped off to 14 dead horses on a farm in various states of decay. and 60 other horses in various conditions from exellent to ematiated. The owner was given every opportunity to clean it up get vet care and feed and would be monitored by the local Animal Control.
The owner FAILED to make any signifigant improvments to the conditions.
60 horses are ALOT so many private ranches were ask to help out boarding them, where myself and many other horse folks came into this.
Seems to me this is how a humane investigation should happen. Proper Regulatory authority contacted, A rational educated investigation, Reasonable time for the problem to be fixed, and then failing that the animals siezed.
What do you guys think?

We recently became the owners of an 8 week old beardie (and are borrowing a 23 gallon long tank, light fixture, and bought the rest of our needs from big box and smaller pet/reptile stores). After hearing the substrate debate over and over, we began to hear a debate over what wattage and type of bulb we needed for our little Vrti (short for Vrtra...if you are into mythology...). We have the long bulb (seeming to be the only agreement we found amongst "experts") but as far as basking and/or night heat lamp. Our little girl's highest (and usual basking spot) is about 6 inches from the lamp. We finallt took one breeder's advice and bought a 60 watt broad spectrum bulb and a 50 watt red night heat lamp. We also have heard a 50 (and from another source a 75) watt basking light.

Being a first time owner I am paranoid about my beardy's well being. I constantly find myself feeling for enough heat but I can never be sure.

But if I can find good advice I might be able to stop freaking out.

Everything I've read says they dig a burrow to sleep in or you can make them a burrow. I made him one and left him substrate to burrow in..but he just doesn't. He sleeps out in the open. Why? Is this okay or is he sick?

I have a hamster whose almost 2 years old. last night I found a lump on her side that wasn't there the day before or even earlier that day from what I could see. she was bleeding from two spots on it last night, but tonight she had 3 wounds on it. it doesn't seem to be hurting her until you touch it to see it better then she bites. Other wise she walks fine, rolls in her ball fine, and from what I've been seeing, eating and drinking fine. Please help me figure out what's wrong and how to fix it. I'm not attached enough to worry about vets in my tiny town.

she's a dark-eyed white and I wanted to name her something ice or snow related.

I was thinking like Snowflake or something.

My betta made a bubble nest, so I got him a lady. I put them in a breeder tank (one that separates down the middle so that they are in the same water but can't reach each other) and fed them freeze dried bloodworms. I left them there for three weeks and noted that his bubble nest was still there, she was swollen and fat with eggs, and they seemed to sit and look at one another a lot, so I took out the devider. They danced around a bit doing what I assume is the betta "nasty", and then they just stopped... rather than swimming to the top as I'd imagined she would (to lay her eggs in the bubble nest, no?) she started to chase him. I had my net on standby (because I know to take the male out after mating, because often one betta will kill the other) but I couldn't manage to get him out before she'd taken a few good chomps out of his tail. After the injury, he was REALLY inactive, he just sat at the bottom of the tank, but now that he's healing, he's REALLY REALLY active. Is this normal?
