Your kitty probably scratched you, most likely as a quick reflex from being stepped on rather than an intentional attack. While it's less likely that he bit you, if you examine your wounds you shouldbe able to tell if it's a bite or scratch. Bites usually look more like punctures & scratches tend to be longer & shallower.
Our cats are usually underfood & occasionally they get stepped on too, poor guys. I've never been bitten or scratched as a result, though, & I don't *think* my SO has either, but they usually react *loudly* & forgive quickly.

they bite and/or scratch. Is the wound a puncture type, which is common with biting, or a longer, laceration type, which is common with scratching? Either way, use an antiseptic regularly, and at the first sign of infection (heat, swelling, discharge, redness extending away from the wound) see a doctor. Best wishes.

Depends on the cat and how quickly you noticed that you stepped on it. Next time kitty will get out of the way for sure. Kitty probably just scratched you. Be sure to wash and disinfect the scratches. I stepped on my Persian one time and she yelped and got out of the way and looked like she was the sorry one for getting in the way. Poor kitty got extra cuddles.

My cat just jerks away really quickly and then sulks until I apologise if I step on him. However, since yours bit/scratched you (hey-can't blame him!) I would just make sure you clean it with alcohol until it heals up, and be mindful of your cat's feet!
