Hi, i'm really happy you decide to Spaying your precious dog,
and be a responsible person ,and doing a very good thing in your life..
As my dog just go for Spaying, her vet do a blood test, to ensure her heart is no problem for this Surgery.
Some dog won't wake up after their Surgery, due to they need Anesthesia, for doing surgery.
If you really want to be safe, it better to have blood test, to ensure.
After the surgery, they won't feel much pain, but they will be sleeping all day, just put her water beside her bed is the best, and let her sleep beside you so you will know what she need and also she really need your love at this time MOST,remember to wear e-collar for her to prevent her from licking her wound.(put on for 8-10day).
And she will be normal the next day as happy as before.
As my dog fully recover after 7 to 8 day,and the stiches will drop out by itself, so don't have to go back to vet for removing the stiches.
After the surgery they are more easy to control as they will not be having the heat, they more paying attention to what you saying and more calm,as well as saving their life from other cancer.
And pls don't let other dog get near your dog, to prevent other dog from licking her wound, and transfer virus to her wound.
Hope this is helpful to ease your mind and if you have anymore question of what to do next, feel free to add detail for us to help you..

she will be in some pain afterwards, yes.. it is surgury! She will be sore the first few days, the vet can give you a pain killer to give her. She will be fine tho.. there are serious uterine infections that unspayed females can get that can be more painful than a spay.
My female is still playful and loving with people. Some of her dog aggression has calmed down, she's a little bit calmer (not so nervous and yappy at everything), she isnt quite so intent on checking out *every* little smell in the yard, and then marking it. There are changes, but for the better. Her personality is still the same.
Its a relief to not have to go thru a heat cycle.. or worry about her getting pregnant! The spay is totally worth it!

My girl got spayed about 3 months ago. My biggest advice especially if you have other dogs, is KEEP HER CALM! I didnt do this and let her play with my boy too much and she got fluid in the tissues around the incision. This was gross (it oozed) and painful and before that she didnt mess with her stitches but afterwards it became a problem. Most vets will give you a pain killer so it shouldnt be too bad for her but she will definately be sore. Good luck, hope she gets back on her feet quickly! And congratulations for being part of the responsible pet owning population and spaying your dog!

We had our female dog(HunterwayX Black Lab)(aged 6 Yrs) desexed about 4 months ago and apart from the normal discomfit after an operation she showed no signs of pain and within a couple of days was back to her old self, no temprament change
Its like for a human after an operation they just need a bit of time and love to get over it, before you know it they are back to their old selves
Discuss with your Vet any concerns you have

thye don't feel any pain but a little uncomfortable most vets will give pain meds just in case.
As far as temp. only the first few days after surgery after all you shouldn't expect much more but within 3 days pretty back to ormal but you do nee to watch dont they don't get to excited and rip the suture area in about 10-2 weeks teh stitches will be desolved or removed and then normal.
Spaying should not change teh temperment

the vets are pretty good and i don't think she will be in all that much pain. I had a male lab, he was desexed, but he still did the normal male doggy things. even to chasing females so there's not all that much change, which is good.

by de-sexed im assuming you mean spayed. your dog will feel a little off colour, and quiet for maybe the first couple of days, your main job is to keep her away from the stitches. she will normally have the stitches in for 7-10 days. she should come around and feel very little pain after the first few days though, aslong as i said you keep her away from teh stitches, thats what tends to hurt the dogs more, then pulling at them
