hi i am about to give up
the fleas in our 3 bed rented house are seriously getting us down, its stopping us get on with our normal lives. so manppl say try spraying, hoovering, we've been doin that since last saturday. were treating the dog with frontline but there still here.
but i feel my only option now is fumigation (professionally)
but my trouble is we have a hell of lot of junk, boxes, papers, storage (we had to take my boyf's dad's stuff from storgae) because he had no room for it. and we still need to sort through it all/sell it
my problem is when would be the best time to fumigate? and the dog would still have them on him,
surely the guy cannot physically spray in every single thing, bags, in amonst dvd's, books, boxes?
and what about our clothes, we cant wash them all, we'd be there for eternity. and we dont want to chuck all of them, what about handbags, shoes etc?
please help i am giving up hope seriously its plunging me into depression more and more

I know what you are going through, I am going through it myself. I will tell you what I have been doing, and it is working out nicely.
Firstly, you will need to vacuum daily and empty out the canister or throw out the bag daily.
Apply Frontline to all of your pets.
You need foggers and flea spray with growth inhibitor included in the ingredients. Foggers can be bought at Walmart and the like, the flea spray I use comes from my Vet.
Use the flea spray underneath all furniture areas, in drawers, etc. Allow the spray to dry before walking on it or vacuuming.
Use the foggers to 'bomb' your house. You will need to leave for several hours while you do this.
Wash bedding & rugs.
Continue to vacuum daily.
When the next month rolls around, apply the Frontline again to your pets. By this time the problem should be under control.
Mid month if you are not noticing a change, bomb and flea spray your house again.
I'm on about week 2 of my treatments, and am only seeing a tiny little baby flea maybe once every couple of days.
The biggest problem is Frontline only kills adult fleas. There are still the eggs and the baby fleas. This is where the products with the growth inhibitor become vital to getting rid of the population.

Before you get the fumigators in, try Acclaim which you can get from your vets. Its about £9 for a large can, it kills fleas and their eggs and lasts for 12 months, breaking the flea life cycle patterns. You also need to do your animals AT THE SAME TIME AS YOU DO THE HOUSE. Suggest frontline, i have found using frontline on the pets, and Acclaim all around the house works great and we no longer have flea problems. I have used Acclaim on and off for years now - especially when we get a new pet. You need to do your furniture, carpets, curtains, skirting boards, everything, every room in the house, including hall, stairs and landings. This should work, and you will see results in just a couple of days. With acclaim you can spray it in/on boxes, paper, books, just about everywhere. I tend to do the upstairs bedrooms and landing and bathroom during the day, close up the rooms for about 2 hours, then open them up. THE SAME NIGHT, just before you go to bed, do the rest of the house and shut all doors until the morning. But you really DO need to do the animals on the same day. You CAN do your clothes, shoes, everything. When you are "sweeping" the can around the room, do your wardrobes, drawers, everything.

get a motel for a few days and call a professional. If they're that bad they're almost impossible to get rid of. Dont forget the yard either. You need to be treating your yard and cars (if garaged) as well as the house. A total fumigation by a professional will get everything... period, so you dont have to worry about moving anything I would definately take as many clothes with you and wash them while your gone as possible, i would wash all clothes and bedding after the fumigation is done so they dont make you sick.

Id seek advice about getting the fumigators in now, the fleas won't live on your dog if you have treated them so once they have gone from your house and as long as you keep your dogs treated the problem should be over, remember though if you have a cat treat it as well because 99% of fleas come from cats. dogs don't actually have fleas they just pick them up from long grass or cats, so as long as your pets and house are treated all should be well.

Total fumigation is the only thing and dont worry about any junk or paper work, a good fumigation will take care of it . suggest you move out for two or three days

You need to break the flea cycle, which means if dog won't be host to the fleas, they will die out. I use SENTINEL all in one flea and wormer which is one tablet per month, my dog has never had fleas and i have never seen one in the house. She gets washed once per week with tea tree oil shampoo.
If you follow this program and just get fumigated once to kill the current fleas, you should be flea free from now on.
Happy scratching

Boric acid is not an effective method for killing bed bugs. Bed bug dust or powder is a combination of insecticide and silica. The dust will cling to the exoskeleton of the bed bug causing death. If you want an all natural product, go with diatomaceous earth or fossil dust. Both are all natural, available online or from local garden/hardware stores and will help. I'd suggest instead of starting with dust, go with a bed bug kit. They are economical and start with the use of more effective bed bug sprays to reduce the size of the bed bug population, followed by dust to kill any bed bugs or eggs you might have missed.

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets. More information on getting rid of fleas is available at http://pests.in/fleas.html

Move boxes to the shed or elsewhere. Contact the council for free pest control and don't forget to "treat cars and similar".
