Australia does not have terrapin or "penny turtles". This is a myth. Most of the older generations in Australia had baby turtles in small tanks and this stunted their growth as they didn't have enough room to grow. Other countries have terrapins and smaller breeds of turtles but unfortunately we are only allowed to keep Australian. Baby turtles both long neck and short neck in Australia are very cute but please realise they do grow. The best place I can suggest you buy one from is Herptrader.com. It is an Australian site. Do your research first and find out what species you want as there are a few. eg. Murray River, SawShell, Eastern Long neck etc.

This link has a few reptile clubs in NSW, some have listed websites that you could check and all of them have e-mail contacts. Someone there should be able to help you.
