Keep him groomed, preferably by a member of the NDGAA, use of natural shampoos, holistic food and not an excess of it; careful selection of treats, and don't overdo that; good exercise, i.e, walking, chasing a ball (good for you, also); obedience trained, and do not confine him to an outside yard all day and all night. A happy companion will be more healthy for both of you. Be sure to have your cocker spaniel altered.

A common genetic problem seen with cocker spaniels is endotropic eye lashes. Other than that they are a pretty healthy breed. Just get her vaccinated in puppyhood to keep her safe from disease and take good care of her. They are nippy dogs in some cases, so make sure to watch her around strangers. Enjoy your dog.
