I needed to know this answer and better understand the answer for a critical thinking question.

Think about this in in terms of "wild" conditions. If you were a predator, which guppy would you go after - the one with a bright solid orange tail, or the one with a drab colored tail with markings that help it blend into the vegetation?

Now given that you have an idea which a predator would choose, suppose only the one, or both would be available for reproduction. Of couse, a lot of this makes assumptions about which colors are genetically dominant.

You should be able to take it from there.
