if you will read the active ingredents in lice shampoo it's the same active ingredent in flea shampoo (permethrin) this ingredent is also in mange dip call your vet and ask for the best product to use on your dog for lice also do a head check on everyone in the house lice can be passed from humans to animals and visversa and it can live in carpet and on furniture when treating for lice you have to cover all areas or your dog will be reinfested again and you can catch it as well goodluck

I have never heard of dog's getting lice. I worked in a pet store for about 10 years and had never had comments about dog's with lice. Also, although my kids have had lice numerous times through 16 years, the lice have never transferred to any of our animals.

You need a "dip" a strong medicated bath that kills "dog lice" as well as flea and ticks. Bathe the dog according to the directions. Also--find out where he went to get them! Sometimes old chicken coops, even years after the chickens are gone the lice are still present. Keep him from wandering. Lice will get on people and it's not going to be fun to wait till they die off!

dog lice and human lice is different. if you go to the vet and buy a bottle of frontline spray it will treat lice, mange, scabies, fleas and ticks, its a great product. humans can not get lice from dogs or vice versa
