We found a snake on my patio. He has dark shades of green and is very small and resembles a boa I think. Does not seem aggressive but after being held too long did try to bite (and he does have teeth).Has a light line going long ways down his top.

I am in Richmond VA. This snake had very detailed markings.

it bit a cooler i had and under it's tongue some liquid bubbled up. poison maybe?

Not good pics, but definitely a garter snake of some variety or other. Wash any open wounds with antibacterial soap, you'll be fine.

That's an eastern garter snake. Totally harmless & very common. Nice snakes to have around.

Definately a checkered garter snake. Even through blurryness of the picture you can clearly see the checkered markings.

where are you located? look up grass snake, garter snake, pine snake- all snakes have teeth btw.
