I have a 3.5 yo male akita. he was outside for about 5 hours today. There is snow on the ground, but there are clear areas for my dogs to lay in, walk around ,etc. I noticed this evenin that his two front paws appear slightly swollen. He does not limp, does not show any pain or discomfort. Should I take him to the vet immediatley, or should I take a wait and see approach?

I just got a new hamster today, and all he has been doing is spinning around on the wheel. I bought my new hamster one of those 3 level cages, not those plastic ones because they look too small for them so I was hoping he would be okay in this big cage, but my hamster isn't eating or drinking at all! Just spinning non stop and I'm worried it may be stressed out or something.

I have one of those water bottles with the metal tube and the ball but he hasn't been drinking from it and maybe he doesn't know how to use it? Should I use a regular bowl? As for food, he hasn't ate much. I put in some carrots and he nibbled on that or a bit, but he seems addicted to the wheel more than anything. Is there something wrong or am I worrying too much?

It started as soon as we stopped giving him can food. Our older dog passed, so we no longer saw the need for it. I bought a dog food to help dry skin, but the signs are still here. He is going crazy rolling on the floor on his black looking cute. Help please!

Our dog has seperation anxiety from it's past. Right now someone is home with her all the time except when my husband and I do something in the evenings together. She is a great dog except when we both leave her. Then she will get into food, get up on furniture, go potty on the carpet, and tear things up. She is a year old Spaniel/Border Collie mix.

much of cancer in todays world?
The Vet had to put our cat down for cancer and the more I read it seems to be a problem.
Is it cause of the crap they put into our pets food that we buy.

I have a 6 1/2 month old mini dochshund and he is potty trained... well when we are home, he never goes potty inside. He always waits for us to take him out. But when he is home alone, he will piss and poop all over the carpet.. even if we arent gone very long. Its almost like his way of getting us back for leaving him at home. I know I can put him in his cage but I would like to get him to the point where i can trust him outside of the cage as well. I know it must not be fun to be locked in there. What can I do? I punish him but it seems to not be working...

I know you can overfeed fish, can it be possible they dont get enough? A small pinch or two and a algae tablet a day doesnt seem like much.

My 5 month old Pomeranian puppy has been throwing up. She has thrown up about 6 times in the past few hours. She seems normal. She is running around like crazy, still wants to eat and is drinking water. I haven't seen her eat anything that she shouldn't eat - she stays in the house and there arent any plants or anything that would harm her. I can't figure out why she would be throwing up. There isnt anything suspicious in her vomit - just food and fluids. Any advice on what I should do? She is up to date on all her shots. She is my baby and I'm just a worry wort when it comes to her! :-)

In a 75 gallon several fish have died lately. Water temp is good, all tests show water to be good, all levels check out, plants seem ok and the dead fish dont appear to have been attacked by anything else in the tank or show signs of sickness or anything. The tank has had two ghost shrimp, four snails, a cat fish, a pleco, and a flounder for some time now. Recently we added two frogs (died within 24 hours), a Guarmi which is still alive, a small angel fish (died within a week), a guppie(lived three weeks), a bala shark (lived two weeks). WHY?

I have a teddy bear hamster that has a wheel that is like above the whole cage (it is one of those big plastic bulit ones that have alot of things to do). It has a slide that they run up to get to the top but for some reason it is making a nest ( I think it's a male as that is what it was labeled) I can't tell right now as it's too new to allow you to pick it up. Yet do males make nests? As it makes a nest in this wheel (it is all plastic with a few holes in it for the air, and when it runs it sprays all of it's stuff in the nest on the floor. So we had to build a cone shape thing to make it catch everything it puts in there that falls. Any ideas? My main question is do males make nests though. It may help lead to whether or not it was marked incorrectly. As I know they make nests if they are preg.

There is research that says that all the testing is useless for humans and only makes money for the labs.

I just moved and my dog has to be on a long lead (the equivalent of a 20x20 kennel) outside while the grass grows in the yard. She is a 3 year old dutch shepard lab mix and she paces and whines for up to 5 hours at a time at night! She has to stay out side...and she has shelter and blankets and toys! What can I do to stop this??!! She gets walked at least 45 min daily and gets play time in the part of the yard where the grass is not growing, fetch, find the hidden bone ect. She does not live on the leash, its temporary. And remember, dogs live outside in the wild, people....not to mention on farms and many other places...

My puppy is so small she cant play with most dog toys, so she has a few toys that are for cats and contain catnip. She loves the toys, but will it harm her?
