I'm really sorry about Alex. I know how bad that hurts, especially at a time when you should have happy feelings no matter what your beliefs. I lost a cat who looked a lot like him on Christmas eve many years ago and it still hurts when I think about it. You have my deepest sympathy.
Cause of cancer:
Pesticides and herbicides in the food chain. It all builds up and the higher you happen to be on the food chain the more you get in your system. What can you do though, not eat or feed your pets?

So sorry for your loss! You have wonderful pics and obviously wonderful memories. Be thankful that you were able to say goodbye. We lost our siamese baby last Christmas while we were away, and our house burned down. They never found a trace of her which left us without closure or the chance to say goodbye.
Cats that go outside are exposed to more things and live relatively shorter lives than indoor. Keep that in mind for the future, and again I can't tell you how sorry I am . I can still feel the pain.

What type of cancer did your baby have?
How old was she?
If you fed a high quality pet food, I don't think that it the pet food that caused the cancer.
But I can tell you that your sweet little kitty had wonderful a wonderful caregiver and was luck to have you.

I'm so sorry about your cat! I know how hard it is.
I put my kitty Maya down in 1999 - she had hepatitis that lead to liver and kidney failure. I still have her picture on my desk at work.
My 15 year old lab mix dog had a cancerous tumor removed from his shoulder three times over four years. There are no new lumps on his shoulder now, but his hips are failing, his eyesight is almost non-existent in the dark, and his hearing is not so good. He still wants to run and play, he just can't run very far or play very long anymore. He has given me so much joy, but his days are numbered.
It's so hard to lose them. We just have to love them while we can, and give them the best care that we can so that they have a good quality of life for however long it is.
Thank you for sharing about your kitty.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I watched your video and I cried. I just lost my cat and best freind, Ariel on October 20th of this year. She was 13 1/2 years old and she too was suffering from cancer. I had to put her down and I know that it is THE hardest thing in the world.

Same reason so many more people are dying of cancer these days - because they're living longer. The longer you live, the more likely you're going to develop cancer sometime in your life. Cancer is caused (in simple terms) by your cells becoming unable to control their growth. Normal cells that don't usually divide start multiplying and form tumors, leading to cancer in some cases when the tumor formation gets out of control. As you get older, your cells have a better chance of screwing up their growth cycle and giving you cancer.
Yes, there are plenty of chemicals that are known to increase your risk for cancer, but these chemicals certainly aren't unique to pets. If you're really concerned, do what humans do: go find organic pet food that lacks a bunch of additives and preservatives. I'm sure it's out there, and I'm sure it costs about 4 times as much as regular food. ^_^
P.S. I'm sorry about your loss - losing a pet for whatever reason always sucks

No i don`t agree with your theory! they don`t put any-thing in our pets food most of the time pets die from old age or they have a ill-ness or the owners treat them awful and they die,but then again they may put some types of things in food that cats or any-other pet may not be-able to eat so i agree but i sorda dont
