Most pet stores have water-less shampoo that will be gentle enough to use frequently without being irritating. They are similar to the kinds that professional show handlers use on their dogs at dog shows and dont require getting the dog totally soaking wet. You might also try baking soda and water... just run it though the hair with a tooth brush. It is part of the natural process of that type of breed.... so if it doesnt smell (indicating a different problem other than normal drool) and you can get over the discoloration.... just take care of it with regular grooming and tolerate the mild discoloration between doggie parlor visits.

I have a white Maltese who is one year old.He gets stains around his eyes very frequently for which we usually get them cut off or we use a product, either Eye Envy or Angel Eyes. It works most of the time, but sometimes, we prefer not to use it. Products like these may use solvents harmful if caught in the pores or eyes, or mouth, which is even worse. We prefer cutting them off (the tear stains).
However, around the mouth, I put a couple drops of white vinegar in his water bowl each day and that is said to prevent outer mouth fur stains. Also, rub a bit of corn starch into his fur before a bath and comb it out. Then use Johnson & Johnson baby no-tear shampoo and wash his face throughly, making sure to take extra care around his nose, because that shampoo HURTS when in the nose. I take this from personal experiance.
Angel Eyes or Eye Envy is also said to work on the mouth, but not as well. My friend's Shih Tzu is allergic to Eye Envy, and Angel Eyes don't really work.
You can also consult your vet on possible options. Sometimes, your doggie's diet is what is causing the staining!
Glad we could help!!!

Start by bathing the dog, that actually does a good job of getting most of the staining out (just cover the dogs nose when puring water around the mouth). Each time after that whenever the dog eats, use a wet wash cloth and wipe the area clean. Pull out any stuck on food if needed. I hope this helps. Good Luck!
