I know you can overfeed fish, can it be possible they dont get enough? A small pinch or two and a algae tablet a day doesnt seem like much.

Yes you can. I wont answer like everyone else here and insult you though. I would guess you are only trying to figure out the right amount and not suggesting not feeding them or "starving" them as above people have said. Check with local petstore on how many fish and type you have with proper amount.

Of course you can underfeed a fish. It's called starvation ;) But fish has small stomachs, so it's a looot easier to over than to underfeed.
Your fish will let you know when you are feeding enough. How long does it take them to eat the small pinch? Feed them what they can eat in 30-45 seconds, twice a day. Same goes for the algae pellets - if the pellet is 100% gone in 6 hours, feed a little bit more (but be aware that it disolves a little, too).

You'll also know when yuou clean the tank. I do weekly 30% water changes and there is a lot of food / poop that gets sucked up from the gravel. If you're seeing large amounts of gunk, you're feeding too much. If you see very little gunk, you could probably feed a little more.

Once or twice a day, as much as they can eat in 5 mintues is plenty. If you are dropping in an algea tablet, and there is still some of it left by the end of the day, it was too big and needs broken up. Of course you can underfeed fish, but if you follow that guideline, they will be healthy and your water quality will not suffer,

of your you can underfeed a fish it's called starving. What I would dosince the amount does depend on how many fish you have, is give a small very small pinch of food per fish twice a day morning and night.

read some books about the kind off fish you own but you shouldn't under feed fish if you want to keep them alive.
