We just bought one of those dome litter boxes with a door, and at first they were annoyed with it, so I removed the lid. How can I get them used to using it with the lid on?

My Fiance wants to buy another puppy?

How do I explain to my Fiancée that it is best to wait in getting another puppy after we are married?

Currently, we owned one little weenie dog and I adore her with all my heart. But having two weenie dogs is going to be more responsibility. Especially we both work full time and we live in apartment. Also, I have wedding expenses in putting away for honeymoon and her wedding ring. We just can't afford another puppy right now and I prefer to wait after we are married. My fiancée desire for another puppy, but I really feel it's best to settle down in our lives before adding another addition to our family.

How should I explain or what should I say to her?

I asked a rhetorical question. I know why. I am so furious with America's ignorance with this issue. Did you know that on average, 2,009 dogs and cats die every hour in this country? You do the math. People think dogs are dispensable. People think that spaying and netuering will do more harm than good, when really, there is nothing farther from the truth. We keep producing all these extra animals that we do not have enough homes for. I work in a rescue, and people give me the most lamest excuses for having to surrender. "It's just not working out". ****.
And do not even get me started on designer dogs!! Shame on anyone who breeds or buys one of these dogs. They are not hypoallergenic, all dogs have dander. These are purposely bred mutts, just for profit. I think those who breed these dogs ought to go to jail or at least have their heads examined.
America needs a major overhaul. We need a mandatory spay and neuter program. Only registered studs/bitches should be bred.

My dog fights me tooth and nail when it is time to trim his nails, he squirms and fights to get away. It usually takes me about a hour to trim them fighting the whole time. I found out by accident today how to do it with no trouble at all. While standing in front of a mirror, Hold the dog under one arm, with your free hand use your clippers to trim his nails. I don't know why it worked but it did, my dig didn't move a muscle and it was over in 3 minutes. Try it and let me know if if works for you.

We only plan on buying a small to medium sized bowl, nothing fancy. I don't want anything that is too hard to take care of, or with big bubble eyes, (I am not a fan of fish :) ) Any ideas?

I have a very loving, playful 1 1/2 year old hairless rat. He has skin cancer and presents with 3 large red sores on his body. He is currently doing very well, is active, curious and still enjoying life. He lives in a large cage with lots of toys, I changed his litter from pine shavings to shredded newspaper to keep pine wood oils from bothering his skin and I have already changed his food to "Reggie Rat" for more balanced nutrition.

I want to know what kind of care I should give him to increase his comfort and longevity. Should I apply an antibiotic ointment to the sores on a regular basis? Are there other things I can do?

(Serious, helpful answers only please.)

My dog has been shivering and sometimes cries when he jumps off the bed. He isn't sleeping much and is acting nervous. I'm taking him to the vet in a few days but I want to keep him as comfortable till then. I think it may be arthritis or some kind of joint problem. He is almost 6 years old and is a boxer. I would like any suggestions as to what he may have or what I can give him to keep him comfortable. I love his sooo much I just hate to see him this way.

I heard it's bad to buy 2 goldfish and now I see why. My sister bought these things and now I have them since she moved across the country. The one is more than twice the size and when I brought it to my house it started eating the other one, as I have seen it do before. I want to split them up but keep them in the same aquarium. I can't make it out to buy anything in the next couple days so how can I do this? I was thinking of putting a divider in the middle of the aquarium (10 gallon) and holding it there with these castles that are in it. What should I use or is there another way to seperate them?

my cat likes to go into the bathroom anytime some one is using it and wait at there feet until they flush the toilet then she jumps up on the seat and watches it until it is completely done flushing. is this a normal thing for a cat to do she also likes to watch us taking a bath and will even stick her paw in the water. i have never had a cat that is this interested in water before i thought they were all afraid of water. i would apreciate any and all answers.

I have a Chocolate Lab. I don't know if I need books specific to the behavioral characteristics of that breed or not.

In September, I bought a Delta Half Moon betta with a dark blue body & pure white fins. His fin colors have gradually changed to blue with a tinge of red. His fins have also gone from being "half moon" in shape to being long & thin, like a regular betta.

What can I do to "change him back" to what he looked like when I bought him? I keep him in a 1 gallon fish bowl at room temperature, with a plant & decorations. He is being fed a "color enhancing" food.

(Serious, helpful answers only, please.)
